Am I the only one who thinks 50mill is way short & Parish could have easily held out for more..?

Jim White just said the deal is thought to be closer to 60 Mill on Talksport. Great if true.

Whatever way you choose to look at it our strongest starting eleven is now weaker sure its nice to have money in the bank but I thought Mr Wan Bissaka kept us in games we would have other wise lost.

It's Utd who are taking the risk here, on a player who (so far) has had one good season in the Premiership. Ideally, I'd have liked him to stay another season but, blimey, if a club like ours gets offered this much, it'd be absolutely nuts to turn it down. If it does turn out to be nearer 60 than 50, I reckon Parish has done a good bit of business there.

It’s a strange one, I felt far more sad when we lost Zaha, and even when we lost Mile, Yannick and Murray I was more upset than this. I honestly feel like we have done really well!l out of this! AWB was great for us but not at all the complete player and he had a lot of support from Andros and Tomkins throughout the games. I will be interested to see how Andros gets on if we get a defender who doesn't need that same level of support in game, it might help him. AWB was a joy to watch, but that kind of money will be so useful for us. We could replace him well enough with 35 million to spare. It’s a boost for our academy long term as it proves that we offer players a route to the very top. For me, this is a really naive statement. If there is a £10m player out there who is just as good as AWB then why haven't Manure signed him? Seriously, what are the chances of CPFC replacing AWB like-for-like with a player that costs three or four times less. It would have to be the signing of the decade and I don't have the confidence we can go out there a find these gems. At the end of the day we are now weakened in the r/b position. A bad deal.

If it means we can sign a competent replacement (albeit not one as gifted) but have money for a creative midfielder or goal-scoring striker then in our position it probably is the right deal. I imagine how this will ultimately be judged is how we spend the money. Perhaps the club will surprise us and we will have the AWB money plus another £40/50 million on top to spend on players (albeit unlikely).

I agree that the concern is what we do with any funds made available by selling AWB. I think people have to accept that the offer was too good to turn down. And once the player himself wanted the move it was the point of no return. Trying to be positive - when Clyne left he played in every game that season and was Player of the Year. His replacement was Joel Ward. I think Joel has been an excellent signing for our club. Maybe not as good as Clyne but a very capable replacement all the same.
