Canterbury changed from Conservative to Labour by the thinnest of margins due to UOKAC Union bussing students to polling stations on promise of fees refund if they voted labour. Some of the silly idiots turned up at the admin office to register for refund after Corbyn failed to get a majority, i.e. lost

Questions raised at the time about student registration and potential double voting

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I'm hearing Labour are apparently planning to call for an inquiry into the 'crimes' of the British Empire.

Not in my name they aren't. Only an enemy of the British state would do such a thing.

If we have to give India their jewels back, do we get our railway back in exchange? Could save HS2 a fortune in track........

Corbyn wants to fight the battles of the seventies and eighties, restore trade union power, nationalise stuff and revisit our history. Not very forward looking.

Education in the country is dominated by the left I have no doubt that they educate our young about the "evil empire" no need for a commission then.

What Labour really needs is a leader who looks to the future threat that automation will destroy millions of jobs in or out of the EU. How are Labour planning for this?

Instead we have a Labour Leader who probably wants to relive his youth when he was on the picket line at Wapping with my mate or marching in ban the bomb demos. Now we all like to remember the good old days but that shouldn't be party policy.

If you are genuinely interested, it's worth listening to John McDonnell lay out how labour policy will guide the next revolution in automation in the workplace. This is a good interview: [Link]

Or you can keep listening to Boris saying 'Get Brexit Done' whilst w***ing in to a Union Jack hanckerchief.

Cheers, I'll get Brexit done thanks, as we voted for.

I'll save the Marxist takeover for another never.

Didn't think much of the debates really. Corbyn didn't make a complete tit of himself, but didn't really convince, me at least, that he has what it takes to win an election. Boris stuck to his few points, mainly Get Brexit Done. I think a typical debating strategy of 'framing' a debate, rather than some form of conversation.

I do think this is an outdated form of 'debate', however, I did enjoy the small jewels that were not caught on by Corbyn, from Boris. The obvious ones were; Why are you delaying the Corp Rate Tax cut? The whole Tory speel is that it doesn't matter about the %, but the money coming in. This is actually a policy a agree with, with my own provisos, mainly because, if the Corp Tax rate is put down to 10%, you instantly kill 90% if not more of the tax havens, so the business pours into the UK, however, I would not allow party donations from businesses, just individuals.

The other one was Boris saying the economy was amazing because of low interest rates. I think I've made my case on why this is a complete fallacy and that should have been contested, but, it just goes to show that neither party, or probably all parties, have any grasp of why low interest rates are a bad signal. It's quite depressing.

With regard to Stirling's point on Corbyn having an enquiry into crimes of the British empire. I don't see a major problem with it, however, these things are never that simple. If you want to do this, surely it's better to do it in an independent review of World crimes, e.g. all members of NATO doing it. Also, what will be done on the results of the review?

To what purpose though?

If you're going to look at empire then why fixate upon the British?

As for the idea of an 'independent' UN panel....I'm not one who thinks that's possible, these things are inherently subjective.

As ever, who is selecting and judging the judges and what are their biases?....You'd need an 'independent' panel for that.....it's a looping nightmare.

And all the rest of it, the institutions, democracy, agricultural technologies.....The British empire over extended itself in India.

As ever, it's the 'and what did the Romans ever do for us'.....If we hadn't been there India might be with Afghanistan today.

That's exactly the point of why it's extremely difficult to do these things.
I don't have an issue with studying the 'real' history of Empire, etc, in schools, but to bring it up from a political POV, imo, just shows a lack of focus on trying to increase the fortunes of the current population.
