As the economic damage of even the prospect of Brexit becomes more apparent by the week, does Davis ever look back to the wise words he uttered in the Commons on 26 November 2002? “Referendums should be held when the electorate are in the best possible position to make a judgment. They should be held when people can view all the arguments for and against and when those arguments have been rigorously tested. In short, referendums should be held when people know exactly what they are getting … we should not ask people to vote on a blank sheet of paper and tell them to trust us to fill in the details afterwards.” He added: “Referendums need to be treated as an addition to the parliamentary process, not as a substitute for it.” Hypocrite

Reports that UK will agreed to no regulatory divergence on the island of Ireland, and therefore you must assume that, given what the DUP and Davis have said, no regulatory divergence between the UK and the EU. So we're paying £50bn+ to have a worse trading relationship, but committing to not changing any of our laws. What a colossal waste of time, effort and living standards Brexit is proving to be.

Vatican City, Andorra & Lichenstein all within the Eurozone have no formal customs. It will be as it is for NI & Eire. Nothing to see here.

I am not at all sure the Loyalists/Unionists will take to being extricated from the UK on this huge issue well. Another step on the long road to a United Ireland it looks like.

Vatican etc aren't part of island nations not physically connected to the part of the Vatican in question. That's also a matter for the governments of those states to determine. They don't have part of the country doing one thing and another part doing something different. Lichtenstein is also a member of the EFTA and EEA. Andorra is in the customs union, and so both have to abide by the rules applicable to members. If the UK is saying it will ensure continued regulatory alignment with Ireland in NI and that the UK will not have a de facto border in the Irish Sea then it stands to reason that the whole of the UK will continue to ensure regulatory alignment with the EU. Hardly "taking back control". It's actually giving it away.

I see Nigel F is refusing to give up his EU pension even after Brexit and which will come out of the £50billion. Good to know he has principles and is looking out for the UK and wasn't just on some ego-driven personal crusade without giving a sh1te about other issues just as long as he 'won'.

Remainers will try anything to reverse Brexit. Anything. Ban the president from a low key visit, trade deals, engineer shyte deals with the EU or anyone else. Exaggerate anything else they can find. Anything. Whenever anyone wants to stop something these days it's usually because they're remain.
