It’s also a common anti-Semitic trope to label Jewish people as ‘successful’ and by virtue in charge of various institutions and a ‘fair target’ for abuse (which is where the left of Labour Party continue to be stunningly blind on). There are so many reasons as to why someone is ‘successful’ or not. It’s not defined by culture alone - it can be a factor but it is far from the only one. A capitalist society is the only real society that would function. I’m also quite a liberal free marketeer - I think the role of the state should be to ensure that exploitation doesn’t occur but other than that I am not an advocate of barriers to trade.
