I'd fully support Austin or Remy joining Palace. I think both men would be pleased to join our club. The trouble is the clubs in competition with us for European qualification will do everything in their power to block Palace from acquiring a genuinely dangerous striker. If I were Tottenham in particular, that would be my perspective. Of course, they can't buy everyone, but they can surely target our top choices and make it extremely difficult for CPFC. It's a big test for the club's financial clout. Not only do we need to outmuscle a bigger club for a quality striker, but we must also hold on to Bolasie. It's no secret that bloody Spurs are trying to halt Palace's rise by transferring Bolasie. They realize Palace are getting uncomfortably close to breaking their grip on that steady European football money. Let's see how strong the club is. Edited by PalaceJam (31 Dec 2015 12.17am) Problematically, I believe we might also be on the cusp of the financial fair play limits, and you can be sure that if by some miracle we made the champions league or Europe, but broke the FFP we'd be excluded (where as say City wouldn't be).

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 I think if we signed Austin, at those kinds of prices, we'd need to a) play in a style that gets the most out of him b) probably sell someone(s) to deal with the wages.

Couldn't we do a loan swap Austin for Dwight then in the summer if all goes well pick Austin up on a free and flog them Gayle I think that kind of answers itself. No way will QPR loan him out if he's out of contract in the summer.

No way, The club are a long way from breaching the FFP rules, to do so they need to exceed £105m of losses over the previous 3 years, and as we were in profit the first two season in the Premier League Palace have nothing to worry about, the last loss we made was in our promotion season of 2012-13. We spent very wisely in the summer window adding only Yohan Cabaye £11,6m, Alex McCarthy £3,5m Connor Wickham £7m Bakary Sako Unattached and sold Murray and Bannen for £6m that's £16.1m outlay. We spent £27+m on players, Fraizer Campbell £900k, Brede Hangeland Free, Martin Kelly £1.5m, James McArthur £7m, Zeki Fryers £1.5m, Jordon Mutch £5.75m, Pape Souaré £3.4m, Keshi Anderson £35k, Lee Chung-yong £1.25m, Wilfried Zaha £6m, and recouped only £1.4m for Jose Campana in season 14-15, that's £25m far in excess of this season, even with the expenditure of last season CPFC 2010 they will still turn in a higher profit than the before tax £23m of 2013-14.

And if Gayle goes the other way.....then we have a deal that could suit bioth clubs - but might not suit Gayle himself moving back to the Championship
