He was there today apparently. Hopefully just for a bit of scouting and/or to have a chat with Uncle 'Arry about what he should do.

if he was at tottenham v charlton then you can bet he talked to charlton, if they're in for him.

I wouldn't get too alarmed that Eddie was at the Spurs v Charlton game. He's undoubtedly gone to ask 'Arry for advice. Eddie was 'Arry's first signing when 'Arry was manager at Portsmouth, so they know each other well.

but come one, IF he was there surely no one is naive enough to believe there was no contact with charlton? what did they do, avoid each other in the lounge at half time or something? no chance. It would be unbeeleevable if he went to the pikeys but hey, then its onto plan B

On the face of it Charlton appear to be doing what we did and seeking Bournemouth's formal approval to approach him. As of yesterday they hadn't made the approach.

Given Eddie Howe's stated loyalty to Bournemouth (and apart from 2 games he played for Portsmouth it's the only club he's ever appeared for, as player or manager), I wouldn't think he'd speak to Charlton without his Board's permission. Naive? Maybe, but he seems a guy with some integrity to me.

The crowd is outstanding, and especially with the penalty after 44 minutes it was clear when we came out after half-time the welcome would be pretty loud and not too friendly. Crystal Palace wanted to strike back, so that was all clear. This is a wonderful place to play football - Jurgen Klopp

It never ceases to amaze me how moronic some Palace fans are. I'm all for debate and voicing different opinions but some of this is ludicrous

Couldn't agree more. Miles on miles of seemingly endless
quotes-on-quotes-on-quotes with nothing sensible to say.
Can we have a break and just wait for the announcement?

So today is the day. Howe will wake up, read the paper, have a coffee, some toast, maybe even porridge and then take his dog out for a brief stroll after brushing his teeth. He will then return, have a shower, maybe even a bath, get dry, put clothes on and reach for his mobile phone. Who will he call? Who will he call?

Eddie Mitchell is on the radio now.

Confirming the interview Howe gave on saturday was "sad" and that they will not stay in his way if he decides to move on.

What other "clubs" can offer him is worlds apart.

Mitchell really sounds like he think Howe should go, even though he says he wants to keep in and has done everything he can. "you should take opportunities when they come".

Howe is training today, Mitchell is meeting with him this afternoon.

No questions were asked regarding Charlton.

In my opinion sounds like Howe is likely to leave Bournemouth - unfortunately from all the gossip flying around it could well be Charlton which I just dont understand.

I'd be shocked if he went to Charlton, I really would. Just wait and see. I love all this speculation. No one actually knows eff all about what's actually going to happen. Just let it play out and we will have all our answers soon enough.

I would be amazed f he was going to leave he would go to Charlton... They Have a nice ground, that's about it... They are challenging for promotion with his "beloved" Bournemouth. Could well end up directly costing them promotion if he goes there. I really can't see it. I think it's us or he's staying that's it.

Worryingly though, I am usually wrong about things!

I've been reading through every page of this thread and declined to comment until this point. Quite frankly, I couldn't give a rat's proverbial what people on twitter say, what someone who 'has connections' at Bournemouth say and care even less what the bookies say. The only person who has been privy to every confidential chat that has taken place (whether at Palace, Charlton, Burnley or Bournemouth is Eddie Howe). I am sure that CPFC2010 have a good idea whether he'll be our man or not, but they are powerless to resist if Charlton 'gazump' our offer.

What I will say is this....

Given the way that Bournemouth fans speak so affectionately of him would suggest that they care deeply about him and vice versa. If that is so then I am sure it must come with good reason. I'd doubt that salary alone would make Howe 'jump ship' to Charlton and potentailly de-rail his former clubs chances of success....stranger things have happened though. Whilst not wanting to compare personalities or how strong both mens affection for their respective clubs are and were, but we were in a similar situation with Bruce a good few seasons ago. We were top of the league, playing some lovely football and he left for Birmingham who were about 12th IIRC...we were all stunned as to why he would go but he did. It seems that every man has his price.

I'd be gutted if EH ended up at the clowns as I truly believe that he is destined for the big time, but if he does go there then we are well shot of him. We don't want a young manager who is mercenary when it comes to whether he takes the club on or not. As many posters have said if he rejects us to stay at Bournemouth then good luck to him...if he takes on the Charlton role, then his character and integrity is not all it is cracked up to be and I'm sure a few Bournemouth fans will feel betrayed.

The main reason why I feel he will have 'sold out' to go to the clowns is because as a team currently sitting 4th in League 1, they have rid themselves of a manager. IMO Charlton we doing OK. They were not underachieiving, and so I think that EH must see that they have an itchy trigger finger at that club. I know our record isn't great, but surely Parish & Co. must have sold our package as a club that want long-term building...having said that many argue that GB was sacked too soon so there are always two sides to the coin.

Whoever we appoint as manager will have my full backing. I hope the CPFC2010 don't give into stupid games on this one and keep upping the offer to get him. I am sure he'll have been offered good terms to join (better than those on offer at Bournemouth) but if he wants to chase the gold over at the clowns then more fool him. I hope he'd enjoy his 30 peices of silver, and not look towards a challenge at a higher level.

I am not suggesting we are by any means a massive club, but surely taking on a relegation scrap in the championship is a tough ask to pull off - one that in time could prove to be the best move / stepping stone he ever took rather than take a team who are likely play-off contenders to the championship...
