Contracts not put out to tender - the pub landlord of Hancocks local awarded a multi million pound contract despite having no experience. Tory donors getting multi million pound contracts for companies that had been set up only a couple of weeks previously again with no experience of procuring PPE, legitimate UK companies with experience ignored and not allowed to tender. This is one of the most expensive projects in world history - ever - for reference the Mars probe that landed recently cost less than £3 Billion. Germany Track and Trace cost estimated at £30 MILLION and Ireland’s less than £5 MILLION. Yep. All of this is a disgrace At the time everyone was in full panic mode and speed was of the essence, so no time to do 6 month tenders, extensive background checks and all that. Hence, defaulting to mates and going with sharks who say they can and charge astronomical amounts simply because there’s no other option. And, at that time, it’s a classic supply demand market so prices would have been massively inflated. What’s worse - overpaying and some dodgy deals then dealing with the fallout later, or doing things properly and having no testing, PPE etc. and bungling the whole thing even more than they needed up doing? Doesn’t make it right but I can see why it all happened. Crucial thing is they need to get slapped for it. Will that happen in full? Unlikely.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

The extend to which politicians are primed to feather their own nest is really quite something. Never let a crisis go to waste, as they say.

More real world data from Israel for Professor Plum - COVID vaccine 97% effective, Israeli data shows
"The Pfizer coronavirus vaccine is about 97% effective against severe cases and 94% against asymptomatic infections, new data jointly released Thursday by the pharmaceutical company and the Health Ministry shows. The study considered information collected in Israel between January 17 and March 6. Unvaccinated individuals were found to be 44 times more likely to develop a symptomatic case of COVID-19 and 29 times more likely to succumb to the virus when compared to individuals who had received their second dose two weeks prior. The vaccine presented a 97% efficacy in preventing severe symptoms, hospitalization and death, and a 94% efficacy in preventing asymptomatic infections....a major driver of the virus’s spread"

Once again it has nothing at all to do with this particular government or indeed any government. It will be something that most of us expect so will be introduced somehow, whether by government or commercially. It's likely to be an internationally accepted standard that permits travel to, and entry into, other countries. Indeed there are already at least two competing schemes being set up. You will be free to refuse. That's entirely your decision but a refusal would bring consequences. Nothing unusual about that. Every decision has consequences. Just as smokers are required to smoke outside of pubs I can envisage the unvaccinated being required to do the same. In another area of course! [/quote You are getting fixated on the vaccination - this is not about that. Try and imagine a UK where you need to show a pass to access a shop to buy a loaf of bread - this pass is controlled by and issued through the UK government (Johnson & Hancock etc) and your right to access any shops, restaurants, pubs etc is dependent on the criteria that is set by HMG. Imagine that your political view differs from the required consensus and you go on a protest march - this has been picked up and your social credit score is subsequently reduced and your pass no longer allows you to travel. If you think this is far fetched then review China. Please try to not confuse this with needing a vaccine to enter a different country. I am not the least fixated on anything. All I am doing is anticipating the possible consequences of the pandemic and trying to stop you, and others, seeing them as some kind of attack on personal freedoms. There will be consequences that result in long-lasting changes to the way we are expected by others to behave and to what we can do if we decide not to comply. That it may well be administered by a government department doesn't mean the motivation for it rests with the government.

Let’s see if people vote to have their civil liberties removed, then we will have the answer. I can’t see it happening myself. The next elections are going to be very interesting although having said that, when was the last time a party fulfilled its election promises?

They don't fear the reactions of the others.....but the elites, who shape the discourse, fear upsetting China. And they have plenty of 'useful idiots', a few funded but mostly ideological, who are willing to play defence for them. I'd say with the BBC it's ideological.
