Plus points of relegation are it'll be easy to get tickets to most games, we'll probably win more and should score more. However, my memories of our last stint in the Championship were playing worse football than we do right now with worse players against weaker opposition with half-empty stands in the winter. From memory, we haven't played great football in the second tier probably since the season we won it with the likes of Armstrong, Southgate et all.

Three games on the trot and NO shot on goal! How is it really possible with the players we have got?

Ok, fair enough, they were a bit zealous in their defence of PV! Personally, PV has some credit in the bank with me because last season was probably the best football I've seen in decades at Palace, but definitely in our current PL run. It showed what he could achieve with the right players. Before the WC people were talking about a possible push for Europe and since then we have struggled to lay a glove on the big teams, but we matched Brentford and, until the red card, looked as good as Villa. We have a win percentage of over 60% against the teams below us this season and respectable draws against Liverpool, United, and Newcastle (twice). If we were losing feebly to Southampton, Bournemouth or Leicester, for example, then I'd feel differently, but I still believe when we finally get a more favourable run of fixtures we'll get points on the board and attitudes will swing back the other way.
I think that's fine and I'm almost aligned there with only my more panicky demeanour worried about leaving it all to a last run of games. I'm not looking to slate PV, I think he's just lost a lot of what was earned credibility and I'd argue the only point in keeping him on would be if we were to spend money in the summer, which I always doubt. I have the feeling he will go in the not too distant future too, regardless of any of our opinions on the matter, which for me would therefore feel like a delay in taking necessary action. Any others articulating that which you have is fine by me and I think it's a fair position even if I am not completely aligned. What irks me is the lack of constructive arguments for keeping PV and instead those just looking to attack individuals who criticise him, even when it's completely logical and evidence backed albeit subjective (which it always will be). My point was more around what, for me, seems like a strange, romantic, deity like worship and undying loyalty to PV even in what is an appallingly bad period. If the worst was to happen, the loyalty to him would appear to be worthy of clinical sectioning. I also think changing the manager is the only possible action that could be taken if this continues, can't do anything about playing staff or investment (or lack of) from Parish et al really. This season anyway.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I was saying to my son last night, it may be bad but it will make it easier for me to get tickets to bring him.

My favourite team in recent years was the Championship team that had a front 3 of Bolassie, Murray and Zaha, and strong characters such as Jedi and Damo. I'm not advocating going down and don't want this to happen and recognise the financial implications. Originally posted by taylors lovechild

My favourite memory ever is scoring against Liverpool though I think it was Gayle who put the ball in the net? It's so vital to have a potent striker, and the best one ever was Murray, in my view. In the meantime we've got to play the strikers we've got, and surely Edouard is better than Mattetta?

We would lose a lot of quality players leaving us with a squad that includes a number of players out on loan at clubs below championship level. Will they be good enough to even keep us in the championship, let alone go up again. And what about those players out of contract at the end of the season. Do we keep them on lower salaries and would they want to stay. Do we keep with PV and will he want to stay? We might bring some money in selling our better players but will we be able to use it on new players or just to keep the club afloat in a lower league. I worry about our future if and when we get relegated :-(

Damning article in the Times today. Says what we all know but the Manager apparently doesn't.

Chatting to a derby fan this weekend. I mentioned a lot of palace fans are being delusional saying they would prefer going back to the championship. He agreed and was saying once you go down you might never come back up and could end up down in league 1 quickly. I am sure we can muster 3 wins and at least another draw till the end of the season. A surpise win against brighton this week would calm everyone down on here while they have an eye on their FA cup run

We are in deep doodoo. Although we are fairly sound defensively it is only taking one goal to beat us. The team is carrying too many passengers and most of our rivals look to have more in their lockers than we do. PV has no idea whatsoever to improve our attacking play. Wilf is probably playing CF because that's where he wants to play but it just doesn't work. Not a good time to sack a manager but he doesn't have a clue how to get a tune out of this team.

I tend to agree, and I had suspicions about Wilf myself. I remember him wanting to be centre forward a few times. There's no tune at the moment - not even the Last Post.
