Found this on the BBS. It’s from Facebook but I don’t know which page. He/they have a point with all those previous examples of times the club have moved fans. Attachment: 68810D74-268F-4F88-ABEC-E4CAFAEB72BC.png (373.40Kb)

It makes sense to provide the HF with the area they want however it also makes sense to do this when the new stand is built and the offer of new seats to those being displaced has a greater attraction than moving from the middle of the goal to the corner of the ground. I believe this is what the club want to do going by the latest statement. It probably won't happen quick enough to suit everybody but I think the HF should swallow their pride and bang the drum (metaphorically as well as for real) and return in numbers.

Yes, I have suggestions: There are incentives the club could offer to tempt 100 fans in E block to move to other available seats around the ground. The obvious is to offer a couple of years free season ticket. This however would cost circa £1000 per seat (assuming an adult is in situ) for the two years, so £200k. Seeing as the club doesn't like spending money, they could try inducements that don't cost them money. offer the first 100 willing to move elsewhere a couple of years free parking on matchdays....offer a VIP invite to the attend the training ground, followed by an exclusive Q&A and lunch with Roy....offer the 100 that move first dibs on all available seats in the ground for the next 3 season ticket renewal periods (ahead of the waiting list and other requests for seat moves).....offer first phase of choosing seats in the new Main Stand. There are people on Facebook, Twitter and the BBS (in E block) who have already come forward saying they are willing (and would like) to move. Alternatively the club has options whereby they can simply switch blocks around. The small print in the t's and c's where the club talks about the need to relocate fans does have a get-out where it says "the Club reserves the right to change the location of the seat..." "...for any reason reasonably considered to be in the best interests of the Club..." provided that "the Club shall use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the seat allocated....is of a similar position within the Ground commanding a similar view as the seat allocated" Therefore there are two options here - switch B block with E block and then shuffle C,D and E one block across. All of the friends and family groups where people sit adjacent to others would remain intact, and the view in a corresponding seat, just one block along, would still be a 'seat commanding a similar view'. Alternatively, all seats in E block could move forwards exactly 5 rows. People in the very back, under the overhang from the Upper Tier would now find they can actually see the big screen. Largely everyone would have the same view. This would free up the back 5 rows across the whole of E block for the HF. Those currently in the front 5 rows of E block, who watch the game through the goal net could move to the front of B block, which is an unobstructed view. I am sure others have their own ideas too. Unfortunately the club has not done any form of consultation with those in E block to actually find out what other good ideas there may be. The club would rather write a statement saying that it 'feels complex' to organise. Seems more to me like the club bottled making a tough decision.

A lot of people keep saying that ST holders will want to move when the new stand is built, but why would they? I remember when the Holmesdale closed for the stand to be built, I moved to the Arthur and hated every minute that I spent there. The joy of getting back to a seat behind the goal (actually more or less where I always stood on the terrace) was indescribable. In this I am not alone - I think a good number of people who sit behind the goal do so because they like the view of the pitch from that angle and won't change it just because there's a new stand. The new Main Stand willsort out the dodgy seats in the AW too as the gantry will be gone. If this all coincides with safe standing (or even not) surely it makes more sense to put it all in the Whitehorse - especially as there will already a fair few dispersing when they reduce the size of that end. Standing, ‘safe’ or otherwise, will need to either stay in corners, at the rear or a full stand as already mentioned.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Sorry but to me the idea of moving them to behind the goal is ludicrous. Apart from the fact that these seats are largely occupied by long term supporters, the way these people behave would force fans in adjacent blocks to have to stand up to see the game. Most people (the silent majority) do not want to stand. With the HF in block B it does not obstruct the view of most of the other lower holmesdale fans and they can leap around as much as they like.

24,000 or so Palace fans at the game on Saturday and we are discussing how to accommodate 100 jumped up jack the lads who think they own the place. So the atmosphere wasn't as great but that is not why we lost. No way am I or any of my mates in blocks E and D moving. We have had our seats since the stand opened. Why not put a 100 seats in the gap between the Arthur and Holmesdale and let them annoy the Sky "pundits". Makes sense to me. Next to their noise buddies in the Arthur as well.
I am enjoying being back at Selhurst and having a beer with my mates just like we have done for the past 40 years. Through Thick and thin we stick with our club. Not chairman, players or managers, OUR CLUB! |

Yes I’m starting to feel that something is going to have to happen or there could end up being a really toxic atmosphere with walkouts from pro-HF or just people who want an atmosphere like myself, and prejudice chants from towards the back of A or B, fans getting on the players’ and manager’s backs and possible grief with block E during and after walkouts. I didn’t see that moving E blockers in between standing blocks of HF and the current D and C blocks as a fair and workable solution seeing as those sitters will have the pitch even more blocked from view but maybe that’s the simplest way round this. After this move I can see a fair few thinking that they may as well move elsewhere in the ground and get the club to provide something acceptable. That’ll leave those who won’t move dotted around in one half of o e block amongst everyone standing in 4 blocks. What a mess. How very Palace. Reasonably happy with the transfers so instead we pull this one out. Amateur run club aren’t we?

Swap Block E with Block B? why not go the whole way and send me to the Whitehorse Lane End? It has already started with the front 8 rows of Block E having fans standing all the time sympathy if you are in row 9. Yes I have no doubt 100 people in Block E would move with the right incentive sadly I suspect they will be dotted all over the block so you could end up sitting next to a HF who stands all game a beats a big drum!

the seats at the back of the AW are dog-5hlte. The fact that no consensus seems to have been reached on this HOL thread, gives an indication of how tricky the situation is to resolve. And I don't consider the Fanatics to be 'yoof'. It takes a lot of ££, hours, and technical effort to put their displays together. I would consider their leadership to be more life-experienced, than to be dismissed as 'uppity yoof'.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Although I think the HF are being a little childish, I do think that people need to realise that at this point in time, the famous Selhurst atmosphere is dead. Yes, it may not win us games but there is no doubt that other teams knew they were coming to a game when the support would be loud and proud. Klopp mentioned it this year, Gary & Jamie on Sky have mentioned how you didn't like coming to play under the lights and noise at Palace. So Block E are perfectly within their right to keep their seats. But in doing so are contributing to the new atmosphere which is, quite frankly, dire and laughable.
Now here's Wright, his first chance to see what he can do, and he's through, it's Wright, ohhhh what an impact by the substitute. And it's Ian Wright who's sent the Palace fans into ecstasy! |
