And add the 'early discussion' bit.

This is nothing amazing. If that is it then Steve P has gone well over the top with his 'major announcement'. Such a salesman. Still, it's worked on many so he is good at it tbf.

It does look (at long last) that the political will is there within the council to make redevelopment plans happen, and that the starting point will be the main stand. Hopefully we will now begin to see 5 years or so of consistent building development

Was it not a brickworks at some point?

In 1922 the site, a former brickfield, was bought from the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Company...

Don’t think she’s got any danger of it upping sticks and moving boroughs anytime soon.

There is a kudos value to having a successful football club on your borough. That is why Bromley were supportive of a potential move to Crystal Palace Park, plus they would welcome the additional monies football would bring.
Croydon would love us to stay at Selhurst, but there are obviously problems to solve, otherwise Steve Parish would not have gone public about an announcement.
My guess is that any hold-up is with Croydon and Mr Parish wants them to get a move-on.
I deal with Local councils over Planning issues all the time, and they couldn't cut-it in the real world. They live in a cossetted enclave devoid from commercial pressures and reality.

Well done Mr Parish for going public and giving Planners the deserved kick up the backside

The council's planning department can hardly comment or assist when they don't have a clue what we're planning. The only reason Parish decided to say something was because it detracted from what has been generally bad news this season and from his own inactivity. For the record, Bromley didn't want us anywhere near CPP.

I can agree with the first part of what you say. I presumed (perhaps wrongly) that discussions between CPFC and Croydon had stalled and Mr Parish was attempting to force Croydon's hand a bit.
Equally, it could have been an attempt to distract fans from the on-field disaster.

However, I do know that Bromley inherited CPP from the defunct LDA and it is a huge money-pit for Bromley's resources. And That is why Bromley were supportive of the outline prospect of a large football club bringing some money into their coffers.

Going back to our roots in Crystal Palace Park wouldn't be so bad. Not old enough to remember when we played our league games there, but the first match I ever saw was Palace v Wet Spam played in the National Sports Stadium on the site of the original football ground as part of the opening ceremony in 1964. Jesus I'm old!

Anyone else there that day?

I only buy sites with planning now. Let someone else ruin their life dealing with all those complete tosses in town halls who think they are so important. Complete w* nkers. So good not having to deal with such losers anymore.

There will be an announcement on Monday. I think the majority will be very pleased with the plans for what the club is going to do.

I can't say what the plans are as that would put peoples jobs at jeopardy but not long to wait now.

The rumour mills seem to point towards a new Main Stand. Fingers crossed for Monday.
