So as suspected the vegan shadow farming minister is unable to resist trying to force her beliefs on the general public.
MP's shouldn't be standing for what they believe in - They're there to represent their constituents, not to direct the electorate but to serve as a means by which their constituants, including those who didn't vote for them, engage in the democratic process. There should be more to democracy than just making a choice between four or five people every 1800 days.

Eating meat is not unhealthy quite the opposite. If she genuinely believes that, she should not be shadow farming minister If she wanted to improve animal husbandry, that would be fair enough. She doesn't, she has a personal agenda that is not shared by the majority of people she is meant to represent.

She doesn't, she has a personal agenda that is not shared by the majority of people she is meant to represent. Well yes, and no. White Meat as a staple of the human diet isn't, as a supplement, its healthy. Red meats much less so. I wouldn't say its on a par with smoking, but the way most people eat meat (ie two or three meals a day) isn't really healthy. Humans probably should avoid red meat as that's poorly digested, except as an occasional treat. Of course there is no real necessity for humans to actually eat meat at all, other than they enjoy it but that's a separate argument. I'm no vegetarian (although I was for about 10 years), but she is right to an extent, for most people the amount of meat they consume isn't healthy and leads to long term problems (Notably vegetarians are 20% less likely to develop cancer than meat eaters - on a statistical national basis). Personally, I'm a hypocrite, because I know all this and don't really give a sh*t. I like Bacon and Steak too much to worry about tomorrow. But she isn't talking total s**t (although maybe overstating the case).

Processed meat, like all processed foods is where there is more of an issue

Meat should supplement a human diet and meal, rather than be the basis of it. Red Meat especially. Although f**ked if I actually care. The very act of being alive is ultimately unhealthy and can only have one outcome. I'd rather die for Bacon than live without it.
