This is where I get a bit confused with how it works. Compensation shouldn’t be related to transfer fees whatsoever. If a player is a free agent then he is a free agent, however to ensure that clubs are not fleeced of their youngsters, the tribunal agrees a fee that covers the cost of their evolution throughout the club. It should not on that basis be a huge number however. For those that are interested This seems the most useful bit: ""PFCC hearings require each club to provide evidence to support their valuation of the player in question. In making its judgment the committee will take into account the costs of both clubs in operating a Football Academy or Centre of Excellence, as well as the age and playing record of the player, the length of time he was registered with his original club, the terms offered by both clubs, the status of the two clubs, the substantiated interest shown by other clubs in acquiring the registration of the player and any amounts paid by the original club to acquire the player in the first place.""

Hoping for some positive news today. For once would be lovely to get new signings in place before the absolute last minute.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Thanks for this. It would seem impossible to second guess the amount, although Palace’s original bid may push more compensation West Brom’s way

I’d make a case for saying January is a time for panic buying which inflates prices. You pay more for a player in Jan than you would in July.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Are you another in the know poster? I have no problem whatsoever until you post, you just seem to have it in for some people and love to antagonise. It's been noticed.
