You basically described them as gammon, which is far left insult aimed at the white working class. I have no problems with the insult but because the far left are so obsessed with racism I'm going to point out their own. Quite. They ( the far left ) will say its not an insult and but just a harmless joke.

I like words and the derivation of phrases will be interested to see where that one's from. You may not believe it but that really was not a reference I deliberately made. You live and learn.

The 'gammon' is a British form of 'redneck' slur used by the lefty middle classes. Personally I find it more amusing than insulting. I think the kind of people turning up to Robinson marches are the salt of the earth. But apparently to some that makes me and them Nazis in this new fangled 'up is down' world.

Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Jul 2018 12.40am) You’re really struggling with this “new world” aren’t you. You think anyone who doesn’t agree with your ideas and stands up against racism and hate is far left. That doesn’t qualify someone as far left. It doesn’t even qualify them as liberal. It just makes them human, with a desire to see the human race thrive and survive.

Thanks for the detail, I have asked around the 'leftie middle classes,' (You appear to have assumed I am part of this group, so asked a few mates,) and no one else had heard this one either. As for the good folks on the match on Saturday being 'salt of the earth,' we shall have to differ but I applaud each and every one for getting out and protesting, rather than fighting the good fight on their backsides in front of a screen.

Do you think it is possible to be on the far left and believe in controlled immigration ? I assume you believe in controlled immigration, you couldn't thrive and survive with more immigration than we can handle right?

The term refers to older middle aged (admittedly mostly white but not exclusively) men (always) that work themselves into a lather as seen on Question Time. The original meme was the infamous "wall of gammon" (attached) which were all Question time audience members mid rant. They are NOT working class- but tend to be all sorts. I would say that many are Tory middle class types - often Parish council, Church Warden types. Also pub bores and UKIP fruitcakes. But 100% they cannot be described as "White Working Class". Tommy Robinson marchers are NOT Gammon. They are just f***ing racist dickheads. Attachment: IMG_3405.JPG (28.61Kb)

Having liv d in a country with controlled immigration I can honestly say that it didn’t make too much of a difference. What happened there was a sponsorship system to get people into the country. There were so many loopholes that it it was quite easy to get into the country, do your time and get a passport.

Do you respect the views of people who don't want to live in an over populated country. And do you also respect the views of people who believe that more immigration = more immigration = more immigration as we need more people to look after the people.

There has to be cap on numbers purely based land available and infrastructure. What is the governments population target here?
