Hedgie you little Red. You are a dark horse.

Raise them enough so families can afford to do them,i know farmers have used foreign labour for years, and its work very well.
But we need to pay enough so families can do them, and the supermarkets will have to pay more for their produce, ideal time with brexit.

And on a side note,I notice HSBC have now said that it won't be as bad as they first forecast.

Crops are picked earlier as its cooler & they can be processed faster for freshness.

Yes, I know. Unfortunately, Farmers have a lot of difficulty finding British workers keen to do it hence their reliance on EU staff.

Part of the problem is two fold. Firstly the Supermarkets wield too much bargaining power & secondly the customer want cheap produce......

Ultimately the market will set prices and wages and which farmers are successful or not.

Indeed. Makes you wonder why they aren't more business minded or for that matter hire a business strategist rather than rely on the awful bargaining power of the N.F.U.

Lack of labour help too don't forget. That will see some going to the wall not market forces. If the crops don't get picked even though the market wants them then that's them up the creek. And that will be down directly to Brexit. It's happening already the staff problems.

Nothing to do with Brexit. It's market forces. If you can't get workers you need to make our jobs more attractive.
