The UK is the gulag. Inspired by Alexander Solzhenetzin, I made a break for it to the local park, and fed a duck. In that moment I was free of the whole tory stasi state, the stinking corruption, the stifling of all human thought not related to property prices and leaving the EU. I am back in solitary now, confined to my two-up two down cell, but that brief moment of freedom was worth it. 'One day in the life of Ivan steeleye Denizsovich'

The January lockdown was implemented to ease the strain on the NHS and to stop it becoming overwhelmed - now the narrative to remove the lockdown is about significantly reducing transmission and a move towards “zero Covid “ and not the NHS. Now the R rate is well below 1 it does not get a mention.. Goalposts moving again...

The government have given themselves almost limitless powers and they will nor be giving them up without a massive pushback from the population however, unfortunately, the majority are ok with this and happily buy in to the propaganda. So you would just allow the health service to be overwhelmed causing the unnecessary deaths of thousands? Maybe you need some personal experience of family and friend dying around you to fully understand.

I presume it’s under instructions from big business who are patiently waiting until all small businesses have been wiped out. Can’t be far off now.

Is everything a conspiracy theory to you? It amazes me that people like you actually get up in the morning. In your mind literally everything is conspiring against you at all times. It must be suffocating

Precisely my point I missed out business ‘opportunity’. Many people haven’t got a hope without tourism coming their way and their politicians know it.

Maybe you need some personal experience of family and friend dying around you to fully understand. At the moment you’re accurately describing the situation seeing as hospitals are still very full, what with wards split into 3 different Covid positive, negative, unknown wards and blanked off beds, and there being the lag from infections and better treatments keeping some alive who’d have died. But not long from now we’ll be out of the seasonal disease/bell curve and in the position we were last summer. I expect it’ll arrive earlier this year because Covid got going naturally later last time in Feb/March 2020. But this won’t stop talk of strains, mutants, double masks because single ones lo and behold don’t do what they guessed and hoped, stay in all year and the expectation of some that others should ruin themselves permanently and unnecessarily. I understood this lockdown was necessary, and this one has proved that lockdowns work on only limiting transmission in the short time they’re policy. But that’s because there’s a vaccine in front of the virus after the lockdown. And with these vaccines and Covid being seasonal these lockdowns and restrictions should not be long term or aiming for zero Covid or 1,000 infections. May as well put everyone who doesn’t work full time right now on UBI indefinitely and close every business.

I have said that CV is real and nasty in my opinion the effects of these continual lockdowns will outweigh the benefits. You do realise that over 500,000 people die in the UK every year - this is not to make light of those who have lost their lives with CV but we cannot continue to lock down and be ignorant of the massive damage this is causing. The advice for those who have had the vaccine remains to wear a mask, social distance etc..

It's a compelling idea for sure but you will have to tell that to all the people who have lost friends and family. I rather feel like there is a similarity to holocaust denial about these kinds of theories. I agree that the big corps cannot be entirely unhappy about the way things are turning out, but for this idea to be true, they would have had to have released Covid 19 themselves. The deaths of thousands of loved ones cannot be denied.
