True, but just like Brexit maybe they should use this as an opportunity to wean themselves off it a bit What a stupid response. Tourism feeds workers.

20miliion years of life have been lost due to C19 according to a report. Just letting the old and vulnerable die so 'life can go on' would surely have hugely increased this figure.

Millions of jobs lost, tens of thousands made homeless, hundreds of thousands of companies gone to the wall, NHS closed to anything but Covid leaving tens of thousands of undiagnosed illnesses that will almost certainly lead to more deaths than those “with CV19 following a positive test within 28days”, children’s education destroyed, mental health destroyed, massive increase in suicides, Johnson, Handcock and cronies siphoning off billions of pounds to give to their mates, complete eradication of civil liberties and freedoms, a population terrified of their own shadow through never before seen propaganda by a UK Government against it’s own people, a national debt that is off the scale etc etc Is that not sinister to you - seriously..!?

Not sinister part 2 Forgot to include that we are now living in a police state where pretty much everything that we all enjoyed pre-covid is now illegal, where government is deliberating over implementing rules that mean we must “show our papers” before we can enter bars, restaurants, football etc, vaccine passports are now almost inevitable. The government have given themselves almost limitless powers and they will nor be giving them up without a massive pushback from the population however, unfortunately, the majority are ok with this and happily buy in to the propaganda.

Well, it’s all your fault so I don’t think you can complain. Go out and shout at your Kentish and People of Kent neighbours Or you could always bay at the moon.

So what does the majority buying into it mean to you then. That you are cleverer or the majority are stupid. How many relatives have you lost. Have you got figures for suicides and homelessness as it needs backing up. Job losses were inevitable and many were after the furlough scheme changed and employers have to pay towards it. Some of these companies were clearly close to the end anyway I would assume.

You said anyone unvaccinated. Which includes people that haven’t tested. And as that excerpt shows, it’s still possible that they will go the vaccination route. Not decided yet. Certainly plenty of other countries that will go this route in the short term so it’s not that outlandish. Personally I think it’s nuts anyway - tourism economy or not. I’ve never understood the lax approach to international travel throughout this whole thing. It’s a major contributor to it dragging on longer, if not the main contributor. People should have been allowed to fly for essential reasons, and that’s it. Not frivolous ones like going on holiday. That is not an essential need, it’s a luxury that people now seem to think is some sort of necessity or right. ‘Oh Briaaan, they won’t even let us go to the costa del now. Fackin nanny state.’ Ridiculous Edited by SW19 CPFC (19 Feb 2021 9.25am)

Sinister is the wrong word, it implies the pandemic was created or deliberate However, some valid points in there. Cronyism has been happening on a massive scale – emails being leaked already demonstrating the lack of due process, although wrong some of it can be understood as the timescales to react on this early on were ridiculous. But it will come out soon enough As for the negative social effects, sadly inevitable. You can argue about the scale, but not the outcomes – no other solution there. So as long as you're not saying all of that could have been avoided completely then fair enough. As for civil liberties and freedoms – again, not many scenarios where some sort of enforced rules/laws would not have to be put in place. However, the amount and frequency of them being rushed through without scrutiny (as is allowed under emergency situations) is getting normalised – this is a big issue. As soon as practically possible normal parliamentary process needs to be reinstated and all laws passed since march last year need to be allowed to be debated and challenged. If you think they'll all be kept ad infinitum you'd be being a bit tin hat though, once things get better they will have to be reminded. People will riot otherwise, and the government would lose votes by the million. it's the laws passed that aren't being publicised that need to be reviewed by MPs properly once the 'emergency' is over. As for propaganda against it's own people – you've got to market this in a way that people take notice. Is what it is. Even with some of the more alarmist stuff, people are still being complete t***s and ignoring it entirely. So what do you expect them to do... make it less sensationalist? National debt is a red herring in the age of MMT. Not enough people understand this, or how it works. It's more complex than this, but essentially, the amount of debt doesn't really matter at all, and more borrowing is more or less irrelevant in an age of negative interest rates.

Sounds like they’ll need to test people anyway even if they have been vaccinated. Borders should’ve been closed March 2020 for 3-4 months. They shouldn’t be closed by the time the European summer season is underway. No way, and the tourist regions will open anyway. Even socialist Spain might realise they can’t starve their citizens.

The majority buying into it - people are scared to leave their homes and think that they are at risk of dying should they do so. I have not lost a relative to Covid and nor do I think it is a hoax, it is obviously a very nasty illness but these measures will inevitably kill more people than Covid will. The 20 million life years lost that you quoted - I assume this is the global figure and not the UK?
