So we only need another 14 points.

Its extremely unlikely that a team currently higher than 13th will go down with the bottom 5 most likely to provide the 3 that go down. At a push you could include Bournemouth.

I think the current bottom 3 will drop and west ham will just stay up.

Teams like Man City can beat you 9-0, so yesterday was no disgrace and that match was never going to define the season. We won't pick up any points against Brighton or Arsenal, so the struggle to get eleven more points starts after that.
And, having watched Palace for nearly sixty years, I'm not too bothered. It's just another episode, really. Heresy though it will seem, Im not too bothered which division we play in. Lots of fans who have only ever supported us as a Premiership club will drop off and it'll be back to 15,000 gates and a crap ground. But hey- ho. We've been there before. The Premiership is of course the Holy Grail, but it's no sort of competition: the big teams have all the money, get all the best players and refereeing decisions 'curiously' always seem to go in their favour. That Palace has now had a consecutive run of over ten seasons is a massive over-achievement, given the lack of gates and investment needed to achieve more, or even hang on at this level.
What is most disappointing is that it's a long while since we had a result that is unexpected- like the win at City last year. There's simply been no magic to this campaign, no excitement.
What is worrying is this failure to land a single shot on target during a match. Is it that difficult? I find the distrust of Edouard, and, for that matter, the obsession with picking Ayew, unfathomable. Why not try Edouard and Mateta from the start? You can't do worse than no strikes on goal.
So, if we go down, it won't be the worst thing. We'll have to see some home-grown players, for a change. For all the talk about our Academy, it has produced Wan-Bissaka, who earned a decent fee,and Mitchell, who isn't going to set the world alight.
I just don't see any passion or identification with the club from the present crop. There are no leaders out there, and certainly no characters. It's like we have a goalkeeper and then ten identical players in front of him.
