They've spent a fortune recently, and Smith nearly got them relegated last season despite spending all that cash.
To me a manager is as good as their budget. I'm not saying I want Dyche, but in that respect he would be absolutely perfect. The fact he got Burnley a year in the Europa League is exactly where we are- wouldn't we all dream of just one European trip?

I am not entirely convinced the 'Europa League' exploits did them too many favours. That season they only won 2 of their first 15 league games and plummeted down the table finishing in 15th place.

It’s Dyche for me as I think he is very much like Hodgson in how he sets Burnley up to not lose. Plus like Hodgson if he has defenders available he can get shock results. Both he and Hodgson struggled with injuries in defence last season but when players were back they got results in their favour. Hopefully we are more likely to bring in better players than Burnley for Dyche to work with? I’m not expecting us to be a top 8 team but I do expect more entertaining football than Roy gave us and a few cup runs. I believe we can get that with Dyche and stay in this division for a few more seasons yet? Burnley over performed with the squad under Dyche and that says a lot about his management in keeping them in the premiership. We are a small step up and Dyche may just be the man for the job. A younger and perhaps hungrier version of Hodgson to give us another 4/5 years in the premiership? So, I will be happy if Dyche is the chosen one :-)

Oh man, I don't dislike Dyche but I don't want him at Palace. Especially if it's going to cost us £20m as some reports say.

Dean Smith 'lacked Premier League experience' and it hasn't done Villa much harm. Then again, they do exercise the cheque book more than we do.

That's an understatement. If Hodgson had had the kind of money Villa have thrown at building their squad over the last 2 years, I'm sure he'd have had us in the top half challenging for a minor European place. (And no I don't need the barbs that he'd have spent it all on 10 CDMs).

A.Villa 'Net spend' over the last 2 seasons is approaching £230 Mill.

From what i have read . his wages is 7 mill per year which works out at almost 135k per week plus a keeping us in the Prem league bonus of 3mill plus the compensation of 3 mill to Burnley for the pleasure of it all . For a club trying to keep the wage bill down its complete madnesss . I wouldnt pay Harry Kane that much ...Well maybe .

Personally I do not believe he is on that much. No-one knows, I have seen £70k paw quoted, a lot less than Roy and possibly nearer the truth

I find these figures very dubious. Surely Burnley can't be paying anyone that much?

We need to go abroad.

Dyche ain’t the one.
Lampard ain’t the one.
On today’s showing, Cooper ain’t the one.

I’d take Howe but it’s still not ideal.

We're the Arthur over ere!

The Times say he signed his last contract in 2018 for £3.6m p.a.
