He’s on £6M pa. so if he doesn’t score again that works out at £3M per goal.
Ridiculous.
Does anyone have any idea what has happened to him?
My only guess is his knee injury has messed his brain up. Easily happens.

He desperately needs a goal or two for sure. However his first half yesterday was much better. He had a couple of opportunities in the second half to play through a team mate but ended up going down a blind alley on his own. We need to get behind him so long as he wears the shirt. If he scores 4 goals in the run in that gets the point s that keep us up all will be forgiven

He does more than just score goals though so that’s a bit of a flawed logic that you put forward.

It's his arrogance that drives me crazy. He can't take a one on one chance all season and then shouts and screams at his teammates for not giving him the ball exactly where he wants it. If I see him slap his chest again or point to the exact blade of grass he was standing on without moving for 5 minutes I'm going to lose it.

Ever thought about moving into space if it's not going where you want it? And as for Townsend/Zaha being 'greedy', ever thought maybe it's because they've laid on chance after chance for you all season and you've missed every one.

With all that, he's lucky enough to play in front of one of the best sets of fans in the world, who encourage him throughout despite him clearly not trying and he has no pressure to score the goals he should do...then he goes and takes a penalty away from previous 100% record Luka at the Bournemouth game.

Sports stars are notoriously superstitious as well, Benteke stealing that could have had a knock on effect to the City penalty. If we go down by 4 points, I'll be pointing the finger squarely at Benteke for that nonsense penalty.

Just stop with these conspiracy theories. You can’t blame Benteke for Luka missing the game after. It’s just that penalties are sometimes missed / saved.

Benteke has had a crap season, but all this extra ire is just a bit too much in my opinion.

You can say he had nothing to do with the City penalty and that's your opinion. I respect that and I know a lot of people will agree with you. I certainly don't hold Benteke as accountable for the City miss than the Bournemouth miss, as obviously that was done with his own foot.

However, you could see how much it bothered Luka and the rest of the team when Benteke stole the ball and refused to let go. In my opinion, it had such a negative effect, that the enormity of scoring a 90th minute penalty against Man City when they were having an unbeaten season was increased 10 fold because Luka would have known how everyone is so relieved he was back on penalty duty because they "know" he'd definitely score.

It's just so unhelpful and shows such a lack of team-work that I blame him for this more than anything else. Yes, you can point to moments Benteke may have cleared balls off the line or assisted other players to make up those 4 points but the sheer arrogance of that penalty will stick with me.

He had the perfect opportunity to go full Christ-Redeemer afterwards, banging in 15 goals and working hard for the team but he decided it's okay to still mozzy around the pitch screaming at Wilf or Wan-Bissaka for not delivering an inch perfect ball to his chest.

Well, we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

He has moments of class, some moments of a better work ethic and often wins the ball in the air.

However these contributions seldom bring others into play or equate to goals or forced errors from the oppo. He is also absolute paperweight in terms any kind of lateral strength!

Essentially he needs to be scoring or assisting, he's doing neither. Yesterday he was pony, he could have stayed on his feet but decided to play for the pen, the likes of Rondon or Jeru would have powered on to score.

We have a favorable run-in, he has to pull his finger out. I'm up for keeping him because he has undeniable amounts of talent, however his time here is running out if he cannot apply himself.

I thought he did okay on Saturday..
Looked a lot more motivated and was trying to do the right things a lot quicker.
Not his biggest fan but looked like the signing of Sorloth and being dropped from the Belgium squad may have made him realize he he needs to at least put in a shift... goals aside.
Lets see if he can build on that..

I thought he was good technically but this season it’s been so obvious that he is lacking. His first touches are too heavy, he can’t run with the ball and keep control, he always overruns it and the defenders have an easy job (happened twice I can remember in Saturday when he was through), his lay offs and passes are often way too hard or soft for the players around him.

It’s not just his lack of goals and effort that’s disappointing. It’s pretty much his whole game at the moment which isn’t up to scratch.
