This is the simplest - and probably the most sensible - explanation, about the EU and the Euro, ever to see the light of day:
Baldrick: "What I want to know, sir, is before there was a Euro there were lots of different types of money that different people used. Now there's only one type of money that the foreign people use. Now what I want to know is, how did we get from one state of affairs to the other state of affairs".
Blackadder: "Baldrick. Do you mean, how did the Euro start?”
Baldrick: "Yes sir."
Blackadder: "Well, you see Baldrick, back in the 1980's there were many different countries all running their own finances and using different types of money. On one side you had the major economies of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and on the other, the weaker nations of Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Portugal. They got together and decided that it would be much easier for everyone if they could all use the same money, have one Central Bank and belong to one large club where everyone would be happy. This meant that there could never be a situation whereby financial meltdown would lead to social unrest, wars and crises."
Baldrick: "But this is sort of a crisis, isn't it sir?”
Blackadder: "That's right Baldrick. You see, there was only one slight flaw with the plan."
Baldrick: "What was that then sir?"
Blackadder: "It was bollocks."

"It's not the bullet that's got my name on it that concerns me; it's all them other ones flyin' around marked 'To Whom It May Concern.'"

Yes, it's very good. A great antidote to what we've seen the past couple of weeks - the ugly face of the establishment lining up to do the bidding of a PM that had no intention of negotiating on our behalf, and had no intention advocating to leave the EU under any circumstances.

While he was "negotiating", he was simultaneously lining up as many figures as possible to make proclamation after scare-story after "damaging report" after annual report to terrify and scare the UK electorate into leaving. This was BEFORE he even made any "agreement" with the "EU leaders" (it was not even an EU agreement).

The ink wasn't even on the page, let alone dry, before he'd set up his little "BSE" campaign.... and that is *exactly* how he'll work around the purdah restriction he lost. I want us out of the EU, and then we turn our attention to the seditionists inside our political establishment. Starting at the top.

...oh, and in case you noticed, apparently ISIS will be over the moon if we Brexit. So don't vote leave, children. ISIS will like that. And there'll be WW3 to contend with at the same time. And cancer.

Thanks Steve, and ofcourse you are welcome to vote whichever you think is right....but 73 laws IS THAT ALL!! I was under the impression from davemonkey that that all our laws had been 'transcribed' down to us from the eu. I thought for a moment dave had been reading exodus and the story of the burning bush as he made it sound, almost biblically, that most of our laws were being handed down to us despite me saying that in my recent experience of jury service, corporate articles of assoc and conveyancing that i noticed no legal impact from the eu. He called me ignorent - fair enough but can you please let me know what just 2 of these laws were? (No googling now!)...and did they have a significant negative effect? The reality ofcourse in a democracy is that there will be laws passed that we dont agree with, ask any member of the labour party in the last 6 years. We may even be frustrated by interventions from lobby groups (funded by large corps) or the house of lords which are both unelected.
But we have to balance these frustrations with the realities that we WILL notice. Just in the last 2 days the heads of the BofE and IMF have warned of severe economic consequences in the event of brexit, and i would guarantee that the resulting higher inflation, unemployment, borrowing costs, tax rises and reduced opportunities will be noticed by almost everyone. Infact in the event of brexit i think you will find a lot of those affected will be heading for Dover, attaching themselves to the undercarriage of lorries and escaping illegally to France to give them and their kids a better chance in life!

And as for your penchant for hyperbole and swallowing the fearmongering, someone in the job a lot longer than the ex-Goldman Sachs chief (who was it again, providing all that money to the BSE campaign?):

"virutally everything we do is on some level touched by Brussels regulation"

Is he lying? You want to challenge his assertion? Go look up his email address and make your points. Post it (and his reply) here, if you'd be so kind. He has taken down many more highly versed in the EU than you, JohnnyBoy.

Will be interesting to see the exchange if this proposal is taken up.

I'm also interested in this forum's 'remainers' response to the Brexit Movie. I'd like to see a remain equivalent, too.

Ask, and ye shall receive. But as it's produced by an EU-funded group, ye shall pay out of your own pocket via UK taxes for said pro-EU video:

[Link]

It's quite amusing they've hired a very British guy to narrate, when it's produced by a Brussels "think tank" 85% funded by the EU.

More amusing are the glaring errors (and general shoddy sh1teness of it). Making a big thing about the student Erasmus scheme -- which is on offer to non-EU students as well. I'd say the video is more "what the EU get out of the UK" than vice-versa. Only a few days uploaded, minimal viewer engagement (comments, thumbs up/down) yet over 100,000 views. I think I've figured out Kermit's day job....

Plenty more there to discuss though, should someone like to raise points from it.

I'd like to offer, in the same category of "short animated film" this to balance the previous pro-EU case:

[Link]

By no means perfect, but neatly explains "how the world (appears to) works outside the EU".

Interestingly, compare and contrast the level of engagement in this video relative to before: 85,000ish views, but many more likes/dislikes and many more comments. I wonder if the EU is also using taxpayer funds to is pay for bots/mongs to raise the viewcount of the previous (and other?) videos to lend implied popularity to their cause?

"Nigel Farage provokes outrage by quoting Labour policy practically verbatim in left-wing lets-deflect-from-the-actual-issue-of-uncontrolled-immigration-by-squealing-racist shocker"

The architect of this was, of course, the same Mandelson on the debate panel. That's why he dog-whistled right after Farage said it. It has been verified by Freedom of Information requests, and he stands culpable for enormous demographic change to Labour's supposed benefit.

Meanwhile, lesson learnt - negative use of the word "diversity" now means "you are a bigoted racist xenophobe". Bless the left - they will try and shut down debate at any cost with their racism and bigot cards.
