No doubt it's been said already but... China....via their varied collection of virtue signalling 'useful idiots' and bought and sold journalists and academics....get to swerve this virus being named after them, as is normal practice. Yet both the English and South Africans, and no doubt others, get labelled with the variants. The double standards really boils my p1ss.

Edited by Willo (02 Feb 2021 2.02pm) The west's fearful nature and its 'me me' narcissism is definitely predictable and anything predictable can be taken advantage of....as in chess, if you are fairly certain of your opponent's move you can manipulate the game. Who knows....only a relative few for sure.

The kick-back against the virus being labelled as the "China-virus" was a response to Trump's attempts to divert attention from his lack of a serious response in Spring last year. It was Trump who consistently used the term, rather than Covid 19, and who fermented suspicions that it was either deliberately released or did so as a consequence of unsafe food hygiene. Something which is being investigated by the WHO right now. As variants emerge it is only natural that they get labelled where that first happens. Indeed it's important that this happens so that those who have travelled from there can be identified. No-one is blaming us, South Africa or Brazil for anything. So these are not really directly comparable and you are allowing yourself to get angry rather than having any real reason to do so.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

So if it’s ok to label it where it first happens then surely there is nothing wrong with saying it is the Chinese virus that mutated into the South African, Brazilian, etc etc virus? Or are you suggesting it originated elsewhere? No anger, just want to get facts right.

It's the China virus, whether the bought and solds and/or the activists wish otherwise. The TDS element is pure childish emotionalism and shouldn't have a place in the discussion. Personally I think it's 60/40 lab created. Do you notice how quiet the mainstream media has now gone on calling the lab theory a conspiracy theory? At one point it was a regular refrain. There should never have been certainty with this and whatever the outcome this theory was never an unreasonable assumption. Just like calling this virus after the place it started from. Wuhan, China.
