Roy was cautious when he was here before because we had a whole season of fixtures, half against teams who we have no business beating. I didn't like the vibe under Vieira, it had clearly run out of steam and ideas, but our results from the run of fixtures before his departure was what you might expect give or take a few wasted points. When Roy left it felt like it was the right time. This time round, if Roy keeps this form going till the end of the season, it might be a little harder for the next guy. Big shoes to fill.

Like on Saturday Roy brings on Tomkins instead of Richards and where's Ahamada gone? And when Rak Saki comes back does he get a game or just 5 mins at the end of a match?

A lot of background noise that Palace are the front runners to get Arne Slot. Trying to move to get him before Spurs and West Ham. Now being reported that Dougie has met with him.

Arne Slot comes from the same country as a certain De Boer, right?

I do wonder whether Roy would have set the team up any differently from Pat in that tough run of games e.g. Man City at home where we might well have got a point had Olise not made a rash challenge in the box. Roy has undoubtedly brought a change of mood but he has done it against relatively weak opposition. And, when it comes to discussions about boring football we have seen over the years I am surprised that Dougie’s tenure apart from half a season or so never gets a mention. I like RH, and and the first to admit that it I was wrong, and he has made a tremendous impact upon his return, but 3 games against bottom of the the league oppo is not enough of an indicator to judge exactly where we are. RH has come in, and we are playing with a renewed freedom - but let's not kid ourselves, in those 3 games there were times where we haven't competed and rode our Luck(aka 1st half vs leeds). In our last vs southampton, we didn't look anywhere near the attacking force we were (at times) vs Leeds or Leicester. He's been a breath of fresh air since the times of PV, but lets all remember the lesson Ole Gunnar Solskjær taught ManU fans. It's waaaay to soon, and with our remaining fixtures, the minimum I'd expect is comfortable safety, from any manager worth his salt.

To be fair, we rode our luck under Vieira as well. It's fair to say that Roy has to beat teams below us in the table, and he has a clearly defined target. PV was suffering from no wins syndrome. He had run out of zing. It was clear from his body language. It's tough being the manager when you aren't winning week after week, even if you are playing teams who higher in the league.
