A file of the offending material has been provided and I have been instructed not to reply to your posts in future pending their investigations.'

The guy never asks me to stop replying to him or indicates a problem.....just sends me this.

Weird.

I assume that it's a joke as steeleye isn't a recognizable person but an unidentifiable avatar much as you are

I suspect it's more a middle finger as he goes.....as he hasn't posted since. Perhaps he'll come back and tell us.

I appear to have really bothered him it seems.

""The way we register for voting has changed in he last few years. It used to be that a form was sent to the home and one person would complete it on behalf of the family. So one form may have Mum Dad and 2 teenagers on it not that the teenagers even noticed.

Today each person is expected to register individually, however what is not clear just yet is do more or less people register. 1mm people in several weeks sounds a lot but it maybe that it is par for the course before an election it just wasn't noticed as they were previously group returns.

After the 2017 the media reported that the young turned our in droves to vote for Corbyn. Later I saw some research that suggested the youth turnout was not that much different from previous elections!

If they are registering in larger numbers and intend to vote that has to be a good thing and no doubt the pollsters will have to adjust their predications if they get it wrong yet again.

One final point you have to register each year so are they new voters are voters simply re-registering from last year?""
------------------------------------------------
Interesting update from my previous post from the Independent. According to them 9mm young people have not yet registered to vote.

""Unfortunately the surge in applications to register barely scratches the surface when it comes to the up to 9.4 million thought to be missing from the electoral roll. Without a huge push this week, next month’s vote will be the ‘missing millions’ election – with young people, BME voters and many low-income voices left out of the debate. "

So Corbyn may not get his youthquake this time.

No but he is putting a lot of faith in turning the Muslim vote out for him.

It was one of the things from his interview with Andrew Marr. 'Family reunification'. Several times it was mentioned with far stronger gusto than defending conventional EU related freedom of movement.

I guess all those postal votes amassed in Mosques and filled in en masse will be a big help.

I wonder how many of the missing voters don't register as they wish to remain under the radar for a variety of fiscal reasons

Glad I won’t be around to see it.

Hearing that on Andrew Marr was as desperate for power as you can get.

Certainly an element to that. If you are not paying child support you would not want to register. Likewise if you are living with someone who is claiming benefits as a single parent etc. again you would not register.

However from my experience as a Poll Clerk the most likely explanation is laziness / stupidity. Every election we would get a handful of people come in claiming they had registered who we couldn't find. Eventually they would admit it was several years ago or they had just moved to the area they just didn't get it's an annual thing.

By the way even if you don't vote these is one very good reason why you should still be on the electoral role. It is a key element in compiling your credit score so if you wonder why your score is too low that maybe one of the answers.

That's ok - they'll be balanced out by those who register at home and at their place of education and use both votes in a GE, even if it is illegal!
