8 points and +5 goals over same time last year.

My only concerns are with obstacles to infrastructure development and Roy's advanced age.

I will yell and whinge when watching a match but truthfully I can have no complaints about what is happening on the pitch

The other + is that no losing pattern to teams which is mid-table or at second half of the table (excluding Newcastle)

Now we seem untouchable against such teams which was not the case last year.

Looks like our transfer structure with Dougie at the helm is starting to bear fruit. Yesssss!

Finally understood (bit dense) why there are two vey distinct groups on here. Roy has been very very consistent duriing his tenure at Palace. He is a safe pair of hands (which is why I have always been a fan) however he will never take any risks. He will not experiment with players and it's only when we have an injury crisis that he has been forced to bring in a new player and they have all done really well:- AWB, Riedewald and Tosun yesterday are clear examples. This exasperates many fans who want to see other players given more of a chance. Finally, after three years I have to agree with them. Must be worth risking one or two, to at worst improve their value or maybe unearth a new gem.

Not exactly with one short term loan and a couple of unproven Scottish youngsters, hardly what Roy was seeking and asking Tosun excepted!

My only major worry right now (other than injury crisis) is the average age of our players, across the board we have a pretty old squad and with the squad being threadbare it means that these players have to run out every single game and it's clear they tire in the last 15/20 mins, one of the main reasons I feel we concede so many late on, and also why we have so much injuries throughout the season, without much action to bring in a younger class of squad players over the next 2/3 transfer windows it'd only get drastically worse so I'm hoping we look to getting in a few younger legs to blood into the squad and mingle with the more experienced players sooner rather than too late.

Had a chat on this topic with my barber who used to play non league. He cuts the hair of a Bristol city player. They have chopped and changed the team to allow rotation and set the team to fit the opposition so everyone gets a chance and there is no burn out. The players hate it and are unsettled. The results show.

Apparently players don't need a rest? I know news to me too. The level of fitness as well as high tech pre and post match support mean playing 40 plus matches is well within the modern players ability.

Make changes where it isn't working. If it is working - and i fail to see how it isn't working at palace - don't change it absent injury and an obvious loss of form.

Dowie Pulis and now Hodgson have all achieved success with settled teams. The loss of playing time for those not making the first XI is more than offset by the enhanced esprit de Corp of a unified team.

Apparently.

Pretty sure there’s an in between. The modern game isn’t playing the same players every week for 80 mins and the rest being rusty and then proving that they’re not worthy of playing. Nobody has suggested tinkering, just phasing players in more. You never know, we may not get 6-7 or more key injuries all at once, then, like I say, throwing rusty players in, with other rusty players at the same time.

There’s also being more easily read by managers with the same players all the time. Don’t forget that for once we’ve had decisions go for us this season for a change, which has been a sizeable points and league position advantage, or we would be battling lower and biting our nails more. I’m feeling more relaxed this season though, as long as we’re not still quite short with our tough run in.

None taken. Comments regarding Roy's substitution criteria, coupled with a lack of chances for youth, are common on this board.

Roy as common with every manager picks their team and use their subs to get the best result possible. Pep has one of the talented youngsters in Foden and rarely uses him now for years, he doesn't feel the need to use youngsters for the sake of it.

..and that was a result very much against the run of play, I noticed we allowed Man.C also far too much space to head in their second goal and although we defended quite brilliantly as we also did against Newcastle silly mistakes in picking up the opposition can still very easily bite us on the arse come the end of the season and I'm not going to mention Kelly's horror against Southampton ..lost two points and allowed a huge confidence boost to both Ings and his team mates instead of doing the opposite with just ten mins to go. The table is becoming scarily congested below us and it could only take two defeats for us to visit the bog.

So we're basically two thirds of the way through the season.

We're 4 points off 5th, have the 6th best defence in the league (only 1 goal more conceded than both Manchester clubs), have only conceded more than 2 goals once in the league all season, and home form has improved relative to recent seasons.

Yes I know we're 19th out of 20 for goals scored with only 22, but almost half the teams in the league have scored less than 30.

I don't think it's that bad guys. We're CPFC!
