One site is already saying how good the Man Utd defender is at locking down wingers. He will be the most lauded defender in the land before the season even starts and don’t be surprised if Southgate all of a sudden decides he is good enough to be in the full England team. Look, I don’t care that that we are selling him provided the price is right however the current reported price is too low as far as I am concerned. He will be worth £80m by the end of next season.

My view is its too much. One hell odf a deal for us. Well done SP. I reckon even a top 6 would have sold Aaron for that. He is not worth that YET. But he will be sorely missed by ALL Palace fans. And I also reckon in a few years time he will be one of the best right wing backs in the world. I could see him going to Spain next.

It’s been reported that there is no inclusion of a sell on clause on the AWB deal and no removal of the clause on the Zaha deal. Ok, so let's say Palace value Zaha at £80m. And the sell on would then be in the region of £16m due to Utd. To remove that clause and then demand £45m up front would value AWB at over £60m. It would seem that valuation was higher than Utd. would pay. Yes, I think we did need to generate funds in order to strengthen the squad. There isn't a lot of financial wiggle room at present. The key now is to get the right players in with the funds available. I've said all along that is a concern as I don't think there is widespread confidence in DF and Co. But we now have to wait and see what they come up with. As for Brooks and Maddison, I am sure most clubs in the Premier League including Palace had them somewhere on their radar, but Bournemouth took the plunge and I think he's surpassed expectations at how quickly he's had an impact. Maddison...we were never going to be able to afford £20m odd at that time.

Virtually all deals are money in instalments. Next you’ll be outraged because they didn’t put a whole seasons worth of water on the pitch in one go. You clearly don't understand the difference between instalments and add ons. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (26 Jun 2019 2.46pm)

Let's also not forget that Hodgson wouldn't let him go out on loan because he wanted to include him in his playing squad. He was being talked about for a while before his debut, but the step up from U23s to the first XI is a big one. Roy could have stuck someone in RB out of position, but he put his faith in AWB. I'm hoping we see another of the graduates step up this season. Kirby seems the most exciting prospect, and Dreher and Flanagan hovering too, plus we have a couple of centre backs such as Woods and Tavares who could get their chance. If AWB goes then let's just focus on the future. I think it's bright

Personally I think DF is getting a bad rap. He's been given very limited funds to work with the past few transfer windows, and I think he's done quite well. Yes, there's been some stinkers (Jach (2.75 mil), probably Soeloth (I think 9 mil), but they haven't broken the bank. And I think we could sell them and recoup most of those fees. There's also been some good ones too. Meyer seems like he has a lot of potential, and was free. Kouyate (10 mil) is a solid midfielder that can fill in for McArthur or Luka. Guaita was a steal (also free). The only transfer that cost more than 10 mil during his tenure was Sakho (26 mil), which I'm not sure he was even responsible for, and is also a great player. I have just read AWB (and its still alot of money to most people) is on £10k a week, the lowest of all Palace 1st team players, why the FUDGE did someone not see last season, his own potential and pay him (get a new contract) similar to LUKA (even as the season ended, sat him down and said we want you to sign a new contract so he would want to stay with deserved package!!
