If that’s the case I’m not sure what we disagree on, although it’s not a clear cut thing. I honestly can’t remember. Maybe there’s peer pressure on footballers to kneel, like on the Police. The following Millwall match against QPR had a good show of solidarity against racism. Millwall don't want Sky to televise their next game they feel they have been treated harshly by the media and especially by Sly.

Teachers and Police should walk off whenever abused too, why should they take it? Footballers are such victims of abuse, not sure how they do their job sometimes. Probably have to spend most of their wages on counselling.

You know full well there is a blanket of shame ready for any players not taking the knee every match that’ll come from their teammates and sly sports and the rest of the press. Rugby has more intelligent players that don’t conclude one thing if you oppose something and F1 is an individual sport that had sportsmen able to not need to take Lewis Hamilton’s blame and tantrums and told him no and expressed an anti racism message in another way with LH kneeling. NFL had a choice and viewing figures are 25% down, or is it more? So we’ll see what happens. But because of Covid the fall in crowds will probably be blamed on Covid and the fall in viewers on the recession. The talk on Hol was to turn backs during the kneeling. Problem with that is it’s as if it hadn’t happened, which they’d be okay with. Even if any of that was true, which it isn't, none of it is the point. The point is showing disrespect to others. The only acceptable thing you can do, if you feel so strongly, is not to attend another match whilst these gestures continue. Go watch rugby if that makes you happy. Booing, chanting, turning your back or walking out are all as bad as whistling during someone's anthem. You just don't get it though, do you?

How about respecting other people’s religious views which you were deriding on the Election thread? Or their political views which get derided on every thread?

All I have been mentioning here is what other people think and that unless respect is shown to them then other people (those who own the clubs and run the FA) might decide to take action against you. Whether you think that is a worthwhile risk is your business.

I respect religious views, even though I don't agree with them. If they bring comfort then I am happy for people. What I don't think ought to be respected by anyone are the kind of scientifically inaccurate assertions that are promoted by the creationists. Deriding political views here, as with any exchange here, is in an entirely different category to that involved with footballers "taking the knee". No-one who comes here has to. If they do they can answer in kind any comment. With the exception of the site owner we are all equal here. The footballers are supported by their employers. They are in their space and not ours. Show them all the disrespect you like on here. As many have in this thread. If you do it at the grounds, where you are a paying guest, you take a big risk.

Praising someone else's contribution is a nice courtesy. Why on earth would that upset me? Stick around. People like you are needed here. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (14 Dec 2020 10.18pm)

Probably time to take my own advice and ignore these posts. The knee bending will be over or too close to BLM the political party by the time I want to go back to a full Selhurst that it won’t be there and an issue any more. Maybe many will take notice of AJ rather than pampered footballers far removed from reality.
