Originally posted by Wisbech Eagle Dealing with factual evidence is what I am talking about. Expressing opinions about the past performance of the EU is obviously a legitimate debating point. Leave though went well beyond that as they suggested many things that were simply aspirations presented as fact. You have only to look at the way the "trade deals" were handled and how easy they would be to achieve. "Within days" of leaving was the promise. Countless new agreements with the rest of the world would flow like milk and honey into our sceptred isle. Del Boy garbage sold to the gullible. PR ensures genuine representative democracy and stops either the right or the left gaining, usually only temporily, any kind of handle on power. It avoids roller coaster politics and produces slow but steady progress. Much the better alternative. Nothing is perfect.
PR most certainly guarantees perpetual political stalemate and an inability to make timely policy. The advarsarial two party system is by no means ideal but if it is replaced, it must be with something workable and not a ball and chain to decision making. Trump is President for obvious reasons. A very large proportion of the United States did not trust Hillary Clinton, and with good reason, and feared, with good reason, the 'Hispanicification' of America and all the cultural problems it brings. White America rejected the policies that place them last and some of non White America rejected the victim mantra in favour of self determination.

Far too much Brexit here but of course they haven't yet been realised as we remain in transition. The effect though is very far from scaremongering. The impact becomes clearer every day. The promised easy peasy deal looks a dead duck. Where are all the new deals that will replace it? I don't see a queue! I don't see anything that suggests people "feared" remaining. I heard a lot of emotional claptrap, but not a lot else. PR most certainly guarantees perpetual political stalemate and an inability to make timely policy. The advarsarial two party system is by no means ideal but if it is replaced, it must be with something workable and not a ball and chain to decision making. Completely untrue. it produces the need to compromise and irons out swings to the margins. Those who use it seem to manage pretty well. Trump is President for obvious reasons. White America rejected the policies that place them last and some of non White America rejected the victim mantra in favour of self determination. A large proportion that did not constitute a majority. Deflecting the blame onto Clinton doesn't address the issue of Trump himself. That the US political system no longer serves is true but Trump only makes that worse. He is the equivalent in US politics of taking bleach to cure C19.
