This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave If selhurst is sold we only get about £4 mil and the rest goes to Lloyds in a deal that saves any future embarrassment after our Lloyds day.

We’ll easily fill a 40k stadium. And if we get relegated and the gates drop we’ll just have to make sure we get back up again quick sharp. I’ve never seen our support levels so high in my lifetime. Palace shirts all over south London these days where as growing up it used to be Chelsea and Arsenal. Even Muggy mates of mine who don’t support their local team have spawned kids that love Palace Now days. SP has done a great job of raising the clubs profile and making us more attractive, also helped by the sustained period in the PL. w Hear hear !

We can't sell out stoke tomorrow, 40k will hardly ever sell out Take a look at whats available for Stoke .... very limited, a few odd singles up the back and behind pillars or next to away section. Improved stadium with improved facilities will bring more fans to matches ..... provided we avoid the drop.

And some think we could fill an extra 10,000-15,000 seats against the same team in seven years. Not gonna happen.

Kermit, you know the capacity is going to increase gradually and we're probably only going to produce plans and submit planning applications if we need to. If we're in the position of being a long term prem club then by the time we have the option, there may well be the need. If we're spending years in the championship then we probably won't. There is a definite need for the new main stand which will probably take us to 30,000. The WH as well may take us to nearer 35,000. There might be seats lost with an arfur rebuild and that may not happen for decades if, like I say, we're not an established prem club. The £50 mil us money wouldn't cover it anyway. I don't know why the arguing over this. If we ever go for over 35,000 and into 40,000 we'll be a different outfit to recent decades.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave People saying we can't/won't sell out a 40K stadium are missing the point. I'm sure we wouldn't be getting 40,000 against say Watford on a wet February evening, but the capacity of 40K would bring in additional revenue like England U21 Games & Concerts etc....

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave What we could pull in is kind of moot for two reasons: 1) we'll expand in stages, testing `the market' along the way 2) we are fairly likely to be relegated between now and having our max-capacity stadium built, at which point we'd shelve any work. (Hopefully point 2 would only be temporarily moot). For the record, a major constraint on large attendances at Selhurst is travel logistics. I can't imagine what it would be like getting 50,000 to/from the ground these days -- given how many people would want to drive.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
