Previously flu would be in those beds. That kills with pneumonia 99%of the time. It's been reduced because of the rules so no major spread. Covid has multiple routes of attack. And long covid will be the worry. I dont think you can get long flu in the numbers you can C19.

Your comments are incredibly negligent, as are any future attempts to dissuade the elderly from getting vaccinated against a virus that has killed many tens of thousands of them already in this country alone. Moronus Maximus. "Two women have described how they were “treated like criminals” after being surrounded by police and fined £200 each for apparently breaching lockdown rules when they drove five miles to meet for a walk. Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore said they were surrounded by police when they met up at a reservoir near where they live. “We were treated like criminals,” Allen, from Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire, said on Instagram. “They read us our rights to say that anything we say may be held in evidence and used in court. We had gone for a walk five miles away from home!” The women told the BBC that they were surrounded by police when they arrived at Foremark Reservoir in South Derbyshire." (yahoo, Jan 2021) If only i were in the police force. A thorough 'internal' lasting many hours would not be good enough for these f-cking idiots.

It is approximately 9 years premature. mRNAs, you might have a chance of a case, worst case scenario is auto immune reactions and or allergic complications in susceptible individuals. The Oxford vaccine - no. Based off existing, established methods. You’re perfectly entitled to refuse it - but don’t be a prick and start scaremongering others based on spurious nonsense Unless of course you worked on the vaccine or have a long and successful career in this field and know different. Then sure, preach away

My February appointment with my oncologist has today been cancelled, with no future date given. This has never happened before. One of my friend's wife is the nurse manager of one of the 2 operating theatres at our local district hospital. The theatre has been closed and all elective surgery postponed so that the staff can be redeployed into "red" areas. Not only do they have more patients in intensive care beds than last Spring they have many more staff either sick or self-isolating. No doubt better testing contributes to the latter but nevertheless this seems like an unapparelled situation with the worse still ahead of us. This isn't like a normal winter flu season.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

All hospital staff should be presented with the vaccine. End the absenteeism shambles. But full vaccine protection takes 3 weeks. I’ve heard even after being vaccinated they’d require staff to isolate if they’ve been in contact with a Covid carrier. Unsurprisingly typical. Some of the beds that have been unnecessarily blanked off shouldn’t be. Beds are never close together anyway. There are some measures they can’t reverse. I’ve heard they have different rooms for positive, negative and results waiting patients.
