As with all managers I tend to concentrate on what I see now rather than past achievements and based on some of their recent performances, I wouldn’t want him as our manager. In my opinion the metal of a manager is how they perform when things are going wrong. I think that if Forest stay up it will only be because Cooper manages to implement a plan B that works, or there are three worse teams. He’s certainly got enough players to choose from to make a different plan work. Steve Cooper has a win percentage of 44.74% since they joined the prem league , seems like a backward step , Roy has a 100 percent record.

A name that should be considered is that of Tony Popovic who has done well albeit with three Australian clubs. He was also Assistant Manager at Palace under Freedman. It is probably a too big step up but obviously knows the club and this might just work out.

Was just unfortunate he put it past and young and hirsute Speroni.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Roy for Permanent Palace Gig' by becky This is sure to agitate a few on here, but it is not without merit. If performances and results persist Roy deserves a second crack. He is a different animal to his previous spell and he ticks almost of all the boxes the board are looking for (age aside): - He is presiding over a team with far greater quality than previously and getting them to perform. Thoughts? Am I the only one thinking all this?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Roy for Permanent Palace Gig' by becky Judging by comments on the 'Next Manager' thread, you are clearly not alone in this view. However: In the unlikely event Hodgson did want to stay and the club appointed him, I wouldn't be disappointed. I'm not someone who sees Hodgson as a purely defence-minded manager. He is essentially a pragmatist who recognizes that if you can't defend you are unlikely to win many matches and when you do have good attacking talent you need to use them. He sets his teams up according to the strengths and weaknesses of the players available and in his last two years with us he had a bunch of ageing players who were mainly past their sell-by date and needed to work within a very tight defensive system if we were to survive. It wasn't pretty watching but it got the job done. I am pleased that he has now had the chance to show that with the right blend of players he is quite willing to encourage a more attacking mentality. I'd love him, though, to get some more good results this season and then ride out into the sunset so-to-speak leaving us fans with a positive memory of his time with us. If we keep going as we are till end of season and Roy wants to stay on then it’s a no brainer for me.

If Roy does not have the energy to stay as manager, he should at the very least be offered a seat on the board. Hi sexceptional experience and expertise is clearly very valuable to the club moving forwards.

Roy must go at the end of the season with a pat on the back, hopefully, before he, inevitably, bores us all to death again.
