What I find somewhat frustrating is the fact that having sold one of our 3 strikers on Saturday, we don't appear to have a replacement lined up. I would have thought we would have only sold Benteke if we had another player ready to be announced before the next game. Once again we seem to be hoping that we can now pull a decent forward out of the bag before deadline day. If we are stuck with Mateta and Edouard as our main two strikers all season we are going to struggle. My main gripe is how many times we leave things to deadline day to either get our fingers burned or having to make do for the first few games of the season and then playing catch up.

The US transfer window shut the day Benteke joined so it was a case of now or never. Getting him off the books opens up a significant amount on the budget. I'm sure he will get replaced before the end of the window but let's be honest, he was unlikely to have started over Edouard or Mateta between now and the end of the window. It wouldn't surprise me though if we end up replacing him with an attacker that is more versatile than Benteke and could also be Zaha's potential successor. The likes of Dennis or Sarr, who could play across the front 3 rather than an out and out striker would be my guess.

We also seem to have forgotten about Plange, maybe he could be capable, he has Championship experience, like Olise

We only play 1 striker. So not a huge loss selling a very expensive back up. I'm glad he is gone, regardless of a replacement Unfortunately stuff happens late, not just for us. For everyone. Clubs only willing to entertain offers when they have replacements in, which relies on another club getting what they need etc etc. For example, we need a CM. Do we go and buy one now? Or if Chelsea want Wilf, could we get another loan for Connor. But their interest in him will depend on what else is available in the market

Evening All, 2 more in-comings before close of window both possible loans unless something else becomes available as there is still around £15m to £20m to spend. 2 loans looking very likely now are: AWB with option to buy As I said a few weeks ago: CG Are still very much a possibility since then we have advanced negotiations over Moriba, we are also interested in Lozano & Watkins. Rumours persist over Zaha however I’m hearing he will sign new deal unless Chelsea make an offer that is too good to turn down. Going to be an interesting finish & a deal or 2 may not close till the last day of the window.

Would have to go down as one of our best windows ever.

We entertained an offer when we had no replacement in, he said.

From what I’m seeing Palace can’t get the striker they want so are pursuing a wide player to allow Wilf to play up front. Reiterated again on social media by a reliable source. Looks like we are continuing to plan our transfer activity with Wilf staying. Rumours of Watkins on twitter last night. Can’t see it. Too much money not enough output for me. He’s also a central striker and not the type we are looking at of the above is to be believed.
