Yes but they still had it to spend in the first place (£165m over 2 years! - that's serious PL spending and the least Wolves should have expected from that was a Euroepan adventure which they just managed to get).

As TBTP has said even if we have a transfer kitty of £50m that isn't going to move us forward (it should hopefully stop us sliding into the relegation zone if spent properly).

As for Nuno, I wonder what he would have done with the 'war chest' Hodgson had for transfers over the last 7 transfer windows. Would he even have stayed?

We can only realistically expect a manager who is prepared to work on a very limited budget (Dyche) or wants (Cooper) or needs (Lampard) to prove himself at an unfashionable bottom half PL club with a rapidly declining stadium.

The idea that we can attract people like Benitez and Nuno etc. is wishful thinking IMHO.

I wonder why we would have enquired about the compensation if we weren't seriously interested

If this report is true- it’s very promising news.

I really hope they get this done quickly and give him as much time as possible to assemble his new squad. He knows what talent is about and has probably already identified some quality reinforcements who he thinks are good enough or the Premier League.

Shaun Derry will make the move up and be tasked with blending in the best of the U23s with those still around and a couple of signings.

I hope that you're joking as he his managerial record is poor having been sacked from clubs in Leagues one and two and never made a success of management anywhere

Confirmed on Sky that talks between Celtic & Howe have now collapsed.

Being honest, he’s not a great candidate. Taking into account the money he spent at Bournemouth, the job he did there is massively overstated. And.. well.. they kinda went down under him. Having said all this, barring Nino, you’d probably have to take him over anyone else we’ve been "linked" with so far.

That’s very interesting news. I thought he was out of the picture but maybe not. I do agree though that he spent a ton of money at Bournemouth on some not very good players. Dyche for me all day long.

I would take Dyche over Howe personally. If Howe is not careful he will lose out. Perhaps it is written in the stars that he will return to Bournemouth! Or Swansea/Brentford

Interesting if expansive football is the aim - less of a risk than Cooper. The plot thickens!

Looks like the Parish masterplan is coming together.

Finish the season without any drama? Check.

Get adequate performances from a load of people you've stopped offering job security to? Check.

Correctly gamble that nobody will steal off with the out of contract players? Check.

Let Roy leave without having a replacement lined up in the belief that it's a good market for us to find a replacement? Check.

Let the season end for all clubs who have a manager we might be keen on before getting moving on the appointment? Check.

Establish a shortlist made up of managers who are available, or who we can afford to obtain? Check (perhaps).

Interview, and appoint the most impressive? Tbc..
