Small businesses and people need tourism to live. Why Turkey are going to open their doors to anyone. They know it and others will too. Countries may open their doors but if we ban foreign travel and 'Red List' countries, then they won't see tourists from the UK.

Hopefully we are better prepared and don't allow people to come unless they quarantine. We should have shut the airports last year. Anyway just my opinion. I have little sympathy for the tourism industry especially the airlines as they imported the problem in the first place. Sorry Badger but I think you know the holes in that. When the next one turns up...and lets remember Sars 1 was just a little over ten years ago and was frankly a dodged bullet....Then just as Labour told the incoming Tories....there's no more money. I know I'm in the minority here amongst our right leaning community but fear has led us into fantasy economics on a wing and a pray with a 'me, now' mindset. We just have to hope that the next one isn't actually a lot more deadly. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Mar 2021 3.14pm)

On the subject of vaccines, I suspect most of the reprobates protesting today have probably NOT had a jab and it is a real shame that our Police don't act as they have recently done in India, responding with water cannon and tear gas. In the middle of a public health crisis, so many have sacrificed so much, so many have suffered greatly in various ways yet these agitators believe it is acceptable to attach themselves to protests no matter what the cause.
Causes me to hyperventilate so I will not comment any further on these shameful and reprehensible scenes.

Had my first AstraZeneca jab today. Just thought I'd announce that. Erm, Just spoke to my wife and having told me I had the AstraZeneca, she now tells me I had the Qxford jab. The lesson here is not to trust your wife with anything as complicated as reading. My whole arm is really aching today but no other symptoms as yet. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (20 Mar 2021 3.44pm)

Edited by Willo (20 Mar 2021 3.34pm) Thank you for making me laugh. I actually did, visualising this wish. I could sense the hysteria was building in the last couple of days and I’m now reading it. Does nobody pay attention or understand the numbers, that are falling by the way down to not very many, and the percentages and risk? Seems not. 101 deaths per day and one death on one day in London this week.

God bless the efforts of NHS staff and volunteers!

It was just the way she announced it. I have to say that the system at my local centre seemed to work like clock work, and we were only there for maybe 15 minutes altogether. There was a queue but nothing serious and the staff were all very professional. No complaints except for a very achy arm.

We try and get people through in under that time of course if they have the Pfizer they have to wait 15 minutes afterwards. For those of you still to attend please don't turn up early try to stick to your slot 5 / 10 minutes either way, it helps the staff and smooths the flow of people. Some times I have had to turn people away because they were way too early always feel bad about that Make sure you have your registration confirmation (letter, text or email) you may also need you National Health number (not the same as National insurance). It's not a must but if you don't have it they have to look it up. Again this will depend where you go some centres don't need it. Finally when you are in the queue start removing your coats and outer clothing (decency permitting) this all just makes it quicker for everyone.

Leave things to the NHS and they tend to get on with things.
