I really hope you're right Dazza- we all know that no signings means championship football, even if we don't lose anyone.
For me, Sarr only has a chance to come if Zaha goes. We surely don't have the cash.
Watkins and Frazer, being realistic, if we only sign those two then not too bad. Watkins and Eze also good, any one of those 3 is better than nothing but we will struggle this season.
SP now has a very difficult close season, IMO the most tricky since Allardyce needed the urgent cash. Will he do what we need? Time will tell.

What a spot on post, couldn't have said it better myself!

Just read the usually well informed Dom Fifield’s piece in The Athletic.
He says we’ve made 2 bids for Eze (the first for an initial £8m) but have not lodged a third bid at this stage.
We also have an interest in Watkins although Villa is seen as a more likely destination for a fee up to £25m.
Fraser is apparently considering his options and we have an interest in Behnrama along with a number of clubs.
The article did not encourage me and I think it’s a case of waiting and perhaps being disappointed.
This would be a shame as I really hoped for a couple of additions for the start of pre season training next week.
I also felt the way Hodgson was talking at the end of the season that we had a few young players lined up.

Many thanks for bringing the Fifield article to our attention, which sounds about right so far as I can tell. What I am getting from Dazza's input is that it is the intention to bring 3 or 4 players in, and that Eze is quite likely to sign...fine details etc to be sorted. I think it's a highly competitive market and I am impressed with the quality of the players we are going for, but sadly it doesn't mean we will be successful!

Of course, did anyone really think it was going any other way. It’s so disillusioning. it’s the lack of ambition that kills you. Whatever the contributing factors are it’s so disappointing.

I have maintained a silence on the 'Transfer' threads.

All I would like to assert is that there has been a plethora of fanciful speculation and rampant 'Linkage' which in reality bears no resemblance to the reality.
It has however stimulated debate on HOL!

Ignore all this rubbish that we are reliant on Zaha leaving.

Their is no guarantee at present that Zaha will be leaving as of yet no offers have been forthcoming.

Firstly, thanks Dazza for the reassurance.
Now to the bit I've hightlighted.
This suggests that we are stalling in getting deals over the line until Wilf is sold. I would hope we would still want to get 1 or 2 in irrespective of Wilf going/staying and then if he goes, aim for a target we couldn't otherwise hope to sign.

Good to have you back Willo. Have you been doing lots of jobs for 'her indoors'?

This inside info seems far more accurate to what the reality of palace is. It’s shame though these linkages offer some semblance of hope that palace have some form of creative thinking & ambition even if the reality is far removed from this.

That's very kind of you, your kind sentiments are very much appreciated.

Apropos, doing jobs for "Her indoors", I am reminded of a saying introduced to me by a dear chap (Now sadly deceased). "You don't keep a dog and bark yourself".
Of course, this should be taken in jest and is not a reflection of my attitude towards my dear wife or women in general!

Dear Willo

Great to have you back. I feared you had gone to Selhurst in the stars! Please vent your opinion, everyone else does!

I am humbled and honoured by your generous sentiments.Thank you ever so much.

I have stayed well clear of the debate as I have run into difficulties before with the multitudes on HOL when discussing transfer activity and debates turned into dastardly 'Willo threads'.I shall continue to keep my counsel on such matters.

That's a pity Willo, as you have received an unfair amount of battering when you've expressed your opinion. Holmesdale's loss, but I think you are wise to keep your council
