I hear Sam has just chipped in with his big fat mouth, he's publicly advising Wilf to leave Palace. Whilst I don't listen to Talksport so can't speak from experience my guess is that Sam was answering a question that had been put to him. Why would he be worried that Palace might be a threat to the club that sacked him?

I would have thought that one of the attractions for Meyer to join is to play with the likes of Zaha. Finding out he's about to leave the day after he signed for palace simply doesn't make sense. All of the 'stories' about Zaha 'leaving' come from one source - the Daily Mirror, even Sky are referencing them as the source. It also doesn't make sense for Zaha to join another club after playing fully in pre-season with palace and missing out on all pre-season with any potential new club. Edited by europalace (03 Aug 2018 10.43am) Totally agree with this post.

I think we need to take the press stories with a massive pinch of salt. Willian has already threatened legal action over the fake agent story and claimed he is staying at Chelsea, Wilf has consistently distanced himself from the news stories on social media, and Told Nick Philpot, ‘nothing has changed, I don’t know where these stories keep coming from’’. Ultimately it’s all coming from somewhere, in my eyes the most likely source is Chelsea, the fact that they want him is the only obvious thing to draw from all of this. We have spent £9.5 million this window so far and have no need to sell, even if Wilf did want a move, we would be better off forcing him to stay one more season and giving our best 11 a chance to play together and see what we can do. We all know that Wilf is a good professional who doesn’t cause problems behind the scenes despite what the press say, that’s why Roy picked him as one of the senior players along with Punch, Damo and Luka last year to keep an eye on other players. I’m sure even if the rumours were true and he was gutted he would get on with it and still give 100%. This! If you look at it from a clear perspective Zaha has shown no signs of wanting to leave, in fact he seems more up for a palace season than ever. Easy to take the no smoke without fire view point but I think the media have debunked that cliche a while ago. Guess the longer and more successful we are in the Prem the more we will be dealing with this sort of BS unfortunately. Got plenty to be excited for this season.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Had a lot of respect for Sam, he did a great job for us but he seriously needs to shut the hell up. No one was willing to touch him and his tarnished reputation after England except us.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Wilf was tight with RLC last season. RLC made the England squad and still can't get a game at Chelsea. Wilf surely won't fancy another Man U experience. They are not in the Champions League either. On sky transfer page its still putting Wilf to Spurs as a headline whisper. Its all paper speculation. He can stay here, be a hero, play every week, earn good money with a team hopefully improving around him. Can't see this happening, not Chelsea anyway.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle So what does everyone make of Wilf 'allegedly' turning down an increase in his wages?! Did he or didn't he?! It seems all these articles use that as the basis for their argument.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I have never read so much pant wetting crap on this website than this thread. This site is getting infested with trolls who are trying to derail the fan base almost as much as the newspapers. Wilf is going nowhere this year. This rumour was started by one crass piece of journalism and everyone in the now s***e press industry has jumped on the bandwagon. As a wise poster has put on here, get worried if Dom starts posting news about it. Honestly, when you look at Wilf, look at his pre-season, look at his social media pages, do you see a man that is unhappy with his lot? Believe me if he and Meyer storm the prem this year you could be looking at the pair of them going for £200m next year to Madrid. Or, looking at the positive side of that, they could stay and be the catalyst to see us push for a Euro spot and entice further players of their talent to the club.

So what does everyone make of Wilf 'allegedly' turning down an increase in his wages?! Did he or didn't he?! It seems all these articles use that as the basis for their argument. I am sure given the inflation of top quality players SP would be happy to pay him more and tie him down for a longer contract But for Wilf if he sees out his contract he will be 28 and at his peak. Wait until he hears from Max Meyer what you can get as a signing on fee as a free agent. May give him an extra incentive to spend the next four years at Selhurst. More likely the board will want to cash in earlier but you would guess they'd prefer him here for two more seasons until the new stand is built and our income can be boosted to better compete with the Everton / West Ham match day incomes to fund a better squad. He would be sold for a massive fee with two years left on his contract. In the meantime we need to get better players in so we are less reliant on him and that appears to be happening successfully right now.
