I think you are very lucky that you don't know anyone personally with it long may that continue. I also live in Caterham and I am sad to say that after months of knowing of no cases, I am now aware of multiple ones, Mostly linked to schools but also from work and from a funeral , some of these have resulted in hospitalisation and oxygen, but thankfully all seem to be on the mend. According to the Surrey Covid table Tandridge as at 717 per 100000 [Link] On a real positive note I took my 90 year old Grandad for his second jab and it was very well run and organised we felt totally safe Originally posted by Rudi Hedman
I’ve spoken to quite a few who’ve had it or people who know people who have but I don’t personally know anyone who has had it. Not one. No doubt partly where you live and who lives around you and near you.

It’s well known the virus can’t climb hills. Actually it probably doesn’t because the people living up on hills don’t have many people around them doing things bringing the virus their way or to vulnerable people. If you went to a supermarket in Warlingham or Caterham and more so oxted you’ll see more individual responsibility than going to croydon and beyond unfortunately.

Positives are around a third lower in tandridge. Yes, lucky nobody I know personally has had it or had it seriously. Everyone I know is sensible about it to lower the chance of getting it.

Anything I’ve had doesn’t last long either. If I did isolate for any of these I think I’d be isolating all winter. I usually get what we think is flu at some point so we’ll see. Haven’t had a cough yet. Edited by Rudi Hedman (08 Jan 2021 3.19pm)

I notice that the Moderna vaccine has been approved. From yesterday there was an update on it stating that they thought it would be effective for two years. On top of that this little tidbit was mentioned - "Bancel added his company was about to prove that its vaccine would also be effective against variants of the coronavirus seen in Britain and South Africa." Great news if true.

Great news if true. The South African strain? That's only dangerous against white farmers.

In terms of Covid-19 I have had family members and friends who contracted the disease but they have recovered and out of self-isolation.One of these friends was taken to hospital but released later that day.

The y access is "Weekly ICU admissions of flu/covid patients per million in winter" The x access is all year round. It maxes out at 17. Which means its saying in a week, we had approximately 1,200 ICU beds full of covid patients. If the maximum number of people to die in a day in April was over 1000 your expect ICUs to be a lot busier. Something is not write with that graph, despite it coming from twitter, fountain of all truth!
