Back on topic - the cancellation of all urgent cancer surgery for at least a week because of a surge in Covid patients at Kings College hospital is not good news. Hopefully not the first domino... For anyone complaining or worse, thinking all this is overblown or even fake, this is the main reason we’re all being treated like babies. Because as a whole we’re clearly behaviourally no better. Capacity not deaths, is the real issue. And we’re collectively f***ing it for ourselves.
The left think that human nature/behaviour is faulty and requires correction by the state.....ha, unless it's about drugs perhaps. The right believes human nature is 'uncorrectable' and that you have to work with it and at worst regulate it. Generalised perhaps but I see this all the time. Well, when I say the 'right', I don't mean this shower currently operating under the description.

My flats are full. When the estate agents shut their doors I turned my units over to the council who took full responsibility for them as they were desperately needed. I set the rents lower for this period. I have an ex-prisoner in one, out on licence after a spell in a hostel. He served 14 years for murder. In fact, the demand here has been very strong. Single people and couples without ties, who are being asked to work from home have been escaping the cities and the high rents and relocating to Cornwall. At least temporarily. Who knows what will follow. Interesting that those from the cities have been allowed to cross the border!

I had a tenant wreck one of my flats sometime in January or February and I couldn't gain entry or give him notice because of the tenant protections that were introduced. In finally got inside in May. No rent for 6 months and weeks of work and cost to get it habitable again. It was indescribably filthy and full of evidence of drug abuse. That cost around £5,000. The agents were closed so I did everything myself. It was as the lockdown started, or maybe when I was anticipating it, that I shifted to the council. What will happen with taxes and pensions is impossible to really predict. I am though anticipating that all who can afford to bear it will be asked to. Including us current pensioners. How to manage this is not a political problem that I would want to face. Whatever is done is not going to be popular. To find ways to ensure demand remains high whilst protecting those in need isn't easy. It's complicated by the strong probability, in my view, of a worldwide recession. We are far from alone in the need to deal with this. So some debt forgiving, or at the very least, long term postponement, is likely to be needed. This is when the global economy and its structures will need to demonstrate strength and determination.

A damnning indictment of Public School education and jobs for 'the elite'. Anyone can do a great job in government whilst things are tickety-boo. It's when things get messy that real leaders show their skills. And we had Dominic Cummings and his 'test-driving' across the country, and on the tail-end of that we have an MP doing a homicidal journey on public transport (and no doubt claiming travel/subsistence and attendance expenses) "Scottish MP Margaret Ferrier has been arrested by police after she admitted using public transport while infected with Covid-19. Ms Ferrier apologised for what she called a "blip" in September. She was suspended from the SNP group at Westminster and leaders, including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, urged her to quit as an MP over the row. Police Scotland said she had been charged in connection with "alleged culpable and reckless conduct". Ms Ferrier apologised in September after travelling from London to Glasgow having tested positive for coronavirus. The Rutherglen and Hamilton West MP said she had experienced "mild symptoms" and taken a test, but had then decided to travel to Westminster because she was "feeling much better". She then travelled home again on a train after receiving the positive test result, and said she "deeply regretted" her actions. A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We can confirm that officers today arrested and charged a 60-year-old woman in connection with alleged culpable and reckless conduct." (BBC website)

Nobody could possibly be "refreshed" by those ideas. If that's the quality of the kind of "alternative" viewpoints you subscribe to then it's little wonder you are on the fringes. They make no sense whatsoever. Never mind the "Karens and Kens". You don't even have to be that bright to see through them. Dumb and Dumber could manage it.
