I believe Putin had other options, however I'm in agreement....the media has been an utter joke. Putin called the west an 'empire of lies' and I'm afraid that isn't far off.

For our faults, we certainly have more access to footage and facts regarding what is happening in Ukraine than Putin would ever dream of offering his own people.

In the first days of this conflict a tank literally intentionally ran over the car of an elderly driver. 'Why' something happens based on an individuals personal motivations, outlook or dislike of an imagined 'enemy' is secondary to the fact that it does. As I stated this happens in every war so it's hardly news. If you are so blinkered in an outlook that you cannot fathom that, then I can't help.

As stated, I have detailed multiple videos. They are very real , NSFW and easy to find based on a description. I'm not going to post videos of people shot to death as an 'in' for you to conjure up ridiculous angles to invalidate the fate they faced because you can't face obvious facts and have some twisted acceptable of what is happening. For someone apparently 'in the know' perhaps you should ask yourself why your platforms of choice elect not to show one single clip of harm being done to Ukrainian civilians by those invading them. Do you think bombs dropped in residential areas are for peoples health? Or is that 'fake news' too? By all means be critical of mainstream media, but doubling down in a different direction has hardly brought for closer to truth. A denial of it though, certainly.

Personally I believe that video was valid, however I've noted considerable dishonest propaganda from the Ukraine side that western media lap up and promote.

The 'Ghost of Kyiv'....and the 'F**k you heroes dying on snake isand'.....the first story being a complete lie and the second being a distortion as those soldiers surrendered once the shells started.

These lies are even retweeted by US politicians as happened with the 'Ghost of Kyiv' story.

This is being used to bang the drum for war and it's highly dangerous.

The tank was Ukrainian and it was an accident. It was a Ukrainian Strela-10 and there are no Russians in Kiev.

The very few videos I've seen look like civilians attacking other civilians, no context. There is hardly any evidence of a significant Russian infantry presence on the ground. Just lot's of airstrikes on what appear to be strategic targets. Also, not cutting off of water supply, power or even internet access. Putin obviously wants to keep this country in tact so no "shock and awe" f***ery. Again, what is his motive for attacking Ukrainian civilians?

I'm not trusting of our system at all. However, I would certainly agree that the Russian people are certainly fed lies through their own system's lens.

Is our system better? Probably...how much better I couldn't say.

I certainly agree that many statements and stories put out by both sides should be taken with a large pinch of salt. It goes without saying that Russia themselves are experts in this area. I'd also say that images and footage can be 'repurposed' or altered, but in line with your own observations there are certainly many cases where footage certainly is real and disturbing at that.

Well perhaps you should look at who supports your position as well George.

My position? What, that Putin is a fascist who at some point will have to be confronted.

They have the advantage of not having liberalism forced upon them by the state which is a biggy for me.

Fascist? I hear this word used all the time now. The jump away from its original meaning is huge.

Confronted? Confronted how?

I don't mean to be picky but I'd quite like to see my sons grow up.

The feminisation of society, replacement, anti white working class and guilt narratives, mass immigration, censorship, 'protected characteristics', alphabet and minority narratives....yep...We fully agree. Sure wasn't the liberalism that I grew up in....The social conservatism of the past was far more tolerant than today.

This country wasn't that bad when I was a teen.....now it's frigging nuts.

Yes, I think people should be critical of all that they take in, including what they chose to be aligned to on account of such lack of trust (as distrust can often be used as an 'in' for those selling their own snake oil or blinkered, dead end outlooks). A mid point and holistic take is likely the best approach by taking in media of various perspectives that can be ascertained to have a degree of accuracy and honesty to it.

Of course often people want to feel part of something though, and so being too 'balanced' in a take doesn't sometimes do you any favours and can become a thankless task in polarised times. I'd say that some do manage it though. The likes of Russell Brand perhaps, who is liberal minded but at the same time certainly not shy of pointing out significant faults in the establishment and politics and players of all stripes [Link] .
