Freedmans' vs Sunderland @ home, in the 3-0 win, has got to be up there somewhere!

Haven't read the whole thread, but Ian Wright's against Brighton (can't remember the year, but it was the game we got 4 penalties and missed 3 of them) was an absolute killer. He was at a tight angle, outside the box, and smashed a looping shot into the net over the Seaweed keeper. That was a proper goal.

Mine would probably be the first goal i ever saw at selhurst.... Can't remember the year.... We had Derby at home and drew 1-1. It was about the fourth minute of injury time and we were 1 down, Nige threw the ball out to Dean Gordon on the left he took it about 10 yards into their half and just hooned it across the goal into the top corner from about 35 yards out..... Luvley stuff!!!

I have seen lots of great goals over the years, but the one that really sticks in my mind is Jim Cannon scoring our 4th against Ipswich in September 1979, a goal which took us to the top of the old First Division and coined the now forgetable phrase of "the team of the 80's". Jim headed the ball clear from an Ippo corner and immediateley started off on a run down the middle of the park. The ball was passed out to the left wing and Vince Hilaire just kept on running and running and he finally swung over a left footed floated cross and there was Jimbo to volley it into the top corner from about 12 yards (bit hazy it was 27 years ago). Selhurst went mad !!!!!!!!!! Happy days

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Best Palace Goals' by jcreedy I'm sure there's been one of these started before at one time or another but I just thought I'd get everyone else's take on their best/favourite palace goals. Personally Steve Staunton's against Tranmere from near the halfway line was the best. (does anyone have video footage of this?) Also Hopkin's at Wembley was very special - I was right behind the goal that day. Edited by dixon6 (14 May 2009 5:00pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Best Palace Goals' by jcreedy The best in class has got to be the Doogs goal v Sunderland in a 3-0 win in the leauge in 2004 but my favourite is Shipps in the playoff final same year which meant so much.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Best Palace Goals' by jcreedy The one i have celebrated the most has to be Powells at Sunderland in the play offs. Living up norf I have alot of friends and family who i wanted to get one over especially as it was a play off game. after Gray was sent off i thought we where dead and buried! So although not the more skillfull goal as he took half the sunderland team in the net with him and the ball it is definitely my favourite!
This club of mine constantly tests my loyalty but I as do many other fans never falter or crumble My loyalty to the Palace will never waver My unadulterated passion for a club I’ve grown up supporting wont die, and my desire to keep coming back and take the blows won’t succumb to negativity |
