Just gotta hope that Paqutao (west ham bloke) gets found not guilty and quickly as that's who they want and he's got a £65m buy out clause that comes into effect next month. They didn't touch him last year cos of the rumours and picked that guy from Wolves over putting in a bid for Eze. They should be under a transfer ban by now anyways!! I think he's in serious trouble. Not only betting on games but ones in which he's involved and can influence the bet by getting booked. If I was a West Ham fan I would be furious. Apparently Tony did bet on Brentford games but to win. I think Paqutao's crime is a level above Tony he might as well have bet on West Ham losing.

I think that if we do see Olise holding up a United shirt, the cup win will have played a big part in it. In Europe, less pressure on the club to balance the books given the financial benefits and able to guarantee hin game time. Think Guehi's off there. Anyone else agree with my theory on Olise?
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

I know it's click-bait but I just read that Chelsea have agreed to splash out £60m on Olise regardless of who their new manager is going to be. But the same article said that just about everyone else is interested in signing him too. In which case, surely there would be a bidding war with the price going significantly north of £60m.

Unless there is a release clause in which case the bidding war will be about the players wages.

I admit I don't know how these things actually are written, but I thought a release clause meant that the club could always refuse to let the player leave for a few below the release amount, rather than the clause effectively setting the price for that player.

It is the amount of money where we can not refuse player talking to other club. It is normally required to be paid in one fee and it is rare selling club will accept periodic payments. However it can have other clauses such as buying club is in Europe or timescales such as must be completed by 30th June etc. We are obviously in dark about exact wording in Olise case but it is thought to be 60 million and rumoured to be only clubs in Champions League. If this is correct only 4 English clubs can trigger it plus those in Europe. There is nothing against a club outside these parameters bidding and in practice this will be only time an Auction occurs. They can not then talk to player till they have an agreed bid including stages of payment. In my view the Textor situation is also relevant as if he is selling up he will want the loans he has made to club repaid. In practice this may mean we have little or no transfer budget for replacement

I think that's correct. Say the release clause is £60m and Moan United, Liverpool and Arsenal all agree it. The only negotiation then is with Olise and those clubs Palace are bought out and cannot refuse to sell. If no club reaches the Release Clause amount we can refuse to sell. If there is no release clause then Palace can keep upping the fee until there is only one club left standing. So the key questions are is there are release clause and if so how much. Edited by Badger11 (26 May 2024 5.49pm) This is my personal pipe dream. That Olise stays at Palace, with his friend Eze, the squad strengthens over the summer, he transfers his allegiance to England and that they play for England together in a World Cup winning team. Oh yes, and that Paace qualify for the Europa league next season

If he does leave, I hope it's to PSG so we don't have to play against him (until the Champions League the following season!)
