In what was an awful England performance, Guehi once again was solid and was once again singled out by Southgate for praise. He could make that CB position his very soon.

Guehi is a class player, and deserving of a place in the England line-up. Andersen is also fantastic, and whenever I have been to see Palace over the past 3 seasons, both have been outstanding. I just hope we can keep them a bit longer. Much as I think Richards is potentially a good player for us, we currently have 2 centre backs who I wouldn't swap for anyone else in the PL. Which is good given we are pretty mediocre in some other areas.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Unfortunately I don't think there's anything certain about it. By all rights Guehi and Stones should start for England at the Euros but would be amazed if it's not Stones and Maguire again, especially as Maguire is playing for United again now. Unfortunately I agree. after a lot of talk in the early days about picking for form. The fact that Maguire, Phillips, Henderson are still getting picked. I suspect he'll use them through the Euros and then maybe shake things up.

Phillips is madness, beyond parody and shows that Southgate has a free pass with the press. England's form has been declining for some time now but no one seems to have picked up on it. I suppose failure next year and gone for Gareth.

To be honest I’m not happy about him playing tonight. Apparently the pitch is in terrible condition, stones have even been found on it, knowing our luck I’m fearing the worst

He will be no doubt courted by the 'bigger,' clubs in January and any sale should only be at a hefty price tag.

Looking at recent big money PL centre back signings 1. Maguire £80m - 2019 (26) There's a few trends in there. One is the inflation fee for PL experience, one the inflation fee for being English, and one the inflation fee for youth. Ben White at £50m two years ago with 1 PL season under his belt and in the England squad for the first time shows the floor price. Guehi is younger than White was in 2021, with 3x the PL experience and now an England regular. I'm not saying in any way that he's a better player than Dias. But going by his age (23), English factor (Maguire, White) and PL experience (Van Dijk, Fofana), as well as a very good injury record... I think it's hard to argue against £65m - £70m being the price point for any interested party. Anything below that, going by precedent, looks cheap.
