I watched the game against Ukraine the other night, no attacking intent, passing it side to side then backward. Yes, just the kind of manager we need is Southgate, NOT. It's a whopping great NO from me. Why is it at Palace we always look to ex-players, etc. etc. Where is the forward-thinking.

Look at some future players maybe?

There will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones; it all depends on how you use them.

I don`t think if you are the manager of Palace you need to be an ex employee of Palace to look at future players.

Does the rumour surrounding Southgate having undergone a recent Charisma Bypass procedure have any foundation??

I don't hold Potters record at Chelsea against him, as someone said, its a mess of a Club who anyone will struggle to succeed there. Brighton often threatened to play well under him, but never acheived it.

But Southgate, is worse. forgoing the fact that international management is a completely different challenge to a domestic management; You have a manager who has never achieved any more than create a good environment for his players.
His playing style has progressed From selecting his promising youth (whom he knew well from his time with the u21s) to sticking with the same a-lot-older-now established stars, disregarding the next generation of promising youth he knows little about - unless forced, of course. The players look disjointed, have no understanding with their teammates and look devoid of ideas.
The less said about his Club management days the better. but in his defence he was young and still learning his trade.

If it's a choice between Potter and Southgate, I'd go for Roy.

What an incredibly uninspiring shortlist of managers after 6 months of looking.

Who's saying this is OUR BOARD'S shortlist after 6 months? I'm not aware of what our board's thoughts are re next season's manager (yes, I know some joker will say they have got any, so I'll get that one out the way now). We are just 4 league games into this season. A lot can happen over the next 34, so let's just get behind the team (and the club).

At least this Saturday, instead of my usual 7 hour plus return journey to SP, I have a short 7 mile journey down to Villa Park - it means I can take 'er indoors' out on Saturday night!

Anyone who thinks Maddison is a better player than Foden has some serious holes in their football knowledge and coaching abilities

He should never be anywhere near our club or country for that matter let alone be considered to manage it .

I said earlier I didnt fancy Potter but by all thats holy Id rush him through the door if I saw Southgate approaching it

Thanks for the feedback people much appreciated. I am honoured you like to discuss my posts.

With Gareth, it depends on who gets sacked in the last few months of the season. If a team in the top 10 gets rid of their manager GS is more likely to go there rather than go to a team like us who will be in the lower half of the table. I imagine he will also want plenty of money to spend to buy Harry Maguire and his other favourites and we wont give him that.

Not sure where the Southgate chat is coming from, but I honestly don’t think any PL team would touch him, let alone Palace. Simply not good enough.

He’s a nice guy who’s got the media on side and appears to have created a fantastic atmosphere within the squad, but he’s got no cutting edge when it matters. I think he’d need a successful stint in The Championship or overseas to prove himself.

Personally I’m a big fan of Potter and at the start of season he would have been my first choice, however, I’m more than happy with Roy and long may it continue.

Potter's my choice, his stock is lower now than it should be so this would be our opportunity to get him - he is a very talented and intelligent coach, just didn't fit at the Chelsea madhouse. I can't believe how some posters are dismissing Southgate, he might be more suited to international management than league but he's a different animal to the 35 year old who managed Middlesboro.
