It’s a guy who can score against Plymouth reserves. He was given space and time which you don’t get in the Prem. Have a look at the Brentford Highlights and his total lack of movement when the Ayew cross /shot comes in near the end of the game. That’s the Mateta I wouldn’t miss if he went.

Whether Mateta, can score regularly in the premier is still an open book, but he could only do what he did last night, and all of his efforts were decent strikes.
One thing about Plymouth reserves , is that until we introduced four class premier level players they were to good for our reserves, and would have won that game if we didn’t change the dynamic with the changes, Mateta, who knows ,he still could. For many in the reserve squad they might not get in Plymouths reserve team.

I had to be at work at 4am today, so up at 3am. Being of 'advanced years' I stayed with last night's commentary as long as I dared, before deciding enough was enough and turning in with Palace 0-2 down, thinking "ah well; at least we can concentrate on the league.

Imagine my surprise and delight at 3:01am!!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I had an ex-co-worker who left to catch a train with the Knicks up 6 points in a playoff game against the Pacers. There was about 10 seconds remaining when he left.

With 9 seconds left Reggie Miller single handedly scored 8 points and the Knicks lost. To be fair, those 9 seconds took about 2-3 minutes to play (foul on the Knicks and Pacers in there).

This was pre-smart phone days. He was on the Long Island Railroad home and thought the Knicks had won... until he got home and watched the news.

Hardly you cant expect players to perform without run of games.

Swapping out the whole team as well doesn't help.

Roy is stubborn and has favorites it's that simple the same when he was in charge of England.

They've literally all just had a run of games - pre-season. Rak-Sakyi and Ahamada in particular were used extensively. Ahamada has played in 3 of our 4 games so far.

Even if they hadn't had games, Plymouth made 9 changes - more than us. Their back ups performed perfectly well.

If Lerma were to get injured tomorrow, how many PL games is it acceptable for the replacement to play at below Plymouth reserves level before they get a 'lack of games' out of the system?

And here is the post mortem

Gutted that you made the changes but it shows what a difference in standard there is between the divisions.

Eze was just unplayable......only for a few minutes but we should have made some changes earlier...tired minds couldn't keep up .

Good luck and hope you win it .....good noise from your fans too...second half of the second half at least
