I think I now understand why we are signing Henderson. Parish "Dougie for Christ-sake why on earth are we signing Henderson" Dougie "But Boss you said find me a player who knows where the goal is"

Afraid I can't get excited about this signing. He's a great goalie but we already have Johnstone. Will no doubt rock the apple cart and we'll be in the same situation as we are/were with Guiata. I really don't understand our transfer strategy. Desperately in need of a striker and won't pay an extra 3 million for Iheanacho, but we'll spend 15-20m on a goalie we don't need!? It's not just the £20m (although in today's market this represents great value for money) it's also his wages. Reportedly on £100k at MU, so won't be moving for less. I suspect that's why we've managed to knock a few million off the transfer fee, else we couldn't afford his wages. With him and Olise now on £100k a week i can see the agents for other players knocking on SP's door.

At first I thought, "Why a goalie? It's probably one of the last places we should spend money this window!" But in reflection, He's young for a goalie - 25 - still has 10+ years remaining. So for a team thinking long-term he's a great signing for that money. Will be our #1 for years to come (hopefully). If he's here for 10 years will be 2mm a year.

Sam Johnstone our likely number 2 keeper this season has just been selected for England, however we feel the need to buy another keeper we assume to replace him. Unless there is something going on in the background then this a very strange use of our undoubted limited funds. I find it strange, as why would Guaita and Johnstone want to leave at the same time? You would think that if Johnstone was unhappy then Guaita would slot back into the number one slot and therefore wouldn’t be clamouring to leave.

Johnstone still has 3 years left on his contract I believe. The only rumour is he wants to go back to the midlands and cannot settle …but Birmingham is not that far away ….it’s not as if he came from Newcastle or Glasgow is it ! All very strange indeed.

No, he didnt, his family live in the North East & he was born n bred in Preston. So why the reported 'homesickness' for the Midlands doesn't ring true for me.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
