Strange claims there. All the reports I have seen on this have concentrated on the actions that GB News has taken rather than on the cause of them. At least they reacted themselves rather than wait to be told to act.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Do calm down. I'm certain that you wouldn't be so 'concerned' if this had happened on the BBC. Don't try and deflect. My points stand. Freedom of speech is alive and well. You just don't like the 'it can also have consequences' bit. Your POV but I don't know of any time in history where words and actions didn't leave you open to consequences. Sometimes lethal ones. Say what you like but don't come crying when you get rapped on the knuckles for being an uncouth subscription hungry dimwit. Also – re. BBC – If this had happened elsewhere, any place of work, then the punishments would range from suspension to expulsion. Not particularly controversial, really, now is it. The fact he's failed to apologise and 'stands by what he said' doesn't help him, but at least he's being true to his general position of bellendery. Not the sharpest tool in the box. What has changed is the seriousness people place on a few hurty words over our lifetime. We are beginning to act like children. If you were being completely honest, the TV channel he said this on is more significant to people like you than what he said. The woman should have made some reference to the size of his genitals in response and moved on like grown ups should. It is the ridiculously disproportionate reaction that I take issue with. I don't defend insulting behaviour but I recognise that it happens to everyone and always will.

However the fact he’s conforming to stereotype is amusing… and the attempts to deflect away from that telling. I would argue that your preferred retort is far more childish playground tittle tattle than actually saying no - that’s not acceptable, behave like a responsible adult and converse properly, or be prepared to face the consequences. The channel, like any other place of work, is also not defending insulting behaviour and choosing to act how it sees fit. Rather than a quick word in the ear, a chortle between the boys off air and a slap on the backside sending him back out as though nothing happened. He has still not apologised - he’s left GB news to do it for him. How mature. Grown ups. Makes me laugh. The childishness is all yours. Edited by SW19 CPFC (27 Sep 2023 11.54pm)

Isn't it better to have them all contained on one channel which you can avoid so has not to have to suffer a fit of the vapours?

Come on..GB News have controversial presenters that walk a fine line to attract a certain type of demographic. The station knows the risks that the "send em back, knock her about etc" type crackpots might cross the line.

I was surprised that Talk TV took great delight in referring to GB News as a “hate channel” when their political views aren’t often that different from one another.

What Fox said was unacceptable. Wootton should have said something at the time. Talk TV more worried about GBNews audience numbers than content MSM BBC, Channel 4, Sky etc in no position to be holier than thou on this.

They even have tory ministers interviewing the chancellor. Oh two trillions Jeremy, that's not much do tell us (mwah) that we will be having tax cuts the party won't like it otherwise. I'm sorry Esther but you and your thick husband will have to wait while I work out how the f**k I can borrow it.

GB News have more balance on the serious programming than the competitors. Many Labour and left wing regulars, always giving platforms to Just Stop Oil etc. Wootton is there to be controversial same as James O'Brien on LBC. Neither does news or should be taken seriously.
