I hate to criticise fellow Palace fans…but I’d suggest anyone considering Gomez as an option hasn’t been watching Liverpool for the past two years. He’s not a prem class defender…let alone a player that helps secure a top 10 position in the league. We’ve had better CBs at the club in Dann and Tomkins.

He’s really gone downhill then as he was Van Dijk’s main centre back partner when they won the league.

I suppose playing next to the best centre back in the world did him a favour. Because what’s clear, is that when VD form went south, the rest of that back four went with him.

Not much chance of signing him now.

Whilst our central defence has been great on the deck, look at how many goals we gave away to aerial threats this past season. It almost got to the stage where giving a corner away was as bad as giving a penalty away.

For this reason I can see why Roy would sanction the sale of either Andersen or Guehi for a dominant aerial CH like Schuurs. Age wise I’d like to keep Guehi, however his distribution is not as good as Andersens. Tough call.

Whatever his shortcomings Benteke was useful in the air defensively.

No Andersen in the squad today. Could be an injury or could it be part of this transfer saga.

Of course that could have been manufactured by his agent to either try and force Liverpool to bid or even push up the price.

I'd rather stick with what we have than pay too much for this guy.

The rumours keep coming on Andersen, Newcastle, now Spurs,. So it could be we have made inquiries.at some point. At under thirty million Schurrs, would have attracted possibly , but now it’s known what Torina,s position is , it can’t be likely unless Andersen goes for at the least £50Mill.
Brentford , are supposed to have offered £20mill for Andersen, don’t know what to make of that other than , Schurr won’t interest them.

I’m working off the assumption Schuurs has been deemed an adequate replacement and part of the ‘buy relatively low sell higher’ approach.

If we sell Marc or Andersen for far more than we paid, we bring in Schuurs to replace them, and if an adequate replacement we make a bit of money without losing quality, use extra funds for more players or other and hopefully he’ll have a higher sell on value in a few years when we inevitably sell him too and the process repeats.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
