Got away with it today, like a number of other games this season. Could have been no complaints if we had been 2 or 3 up at half time - Southampton couldn't live with our forward movement.
Yet after a cracking half time teamtalk, (was Roy visiting ??), we stopped playing, got sloppy but thankfully the back 5 (including VG, who I don't rate) were immense. Some puzzling substitutions, again highlighting our lack of depth gave the game an unnecessarily tough feel to it, just like Brentford.
More worryingly, in his BBC interview, PV speaks of Doucoure 'having something serious' - we limp to January.

We needed that. Not the best performance ever but a good three points. Feels like a big win in our season. Luka did well and that did not look likely based on recent form, also Mitchell got his mojo back. Guehi more solid than he has been, Zaha had flashes as did Eze. No one was stand out awful although Schlupp was little involved and Hughes seemed to be chasing shadows. Good to see we could tough out the final part of the match.

A welcome 3 points but once again an unconvincing performance. I look forward to the day when we play consistently well in both halves of the game. Southampton should have equalised, fortunately their fellow up front wasn't so good.
A special mention to Edouard, who is now showing that he just needs the supply, he's finding the right space.
Finally a note re Eze. When he gave the ball away and they go down the other end and hit the post watch how he reacts. After throwing his hands up in the air in despair at his poor pass, he then makes a half hearted effort to get back and then gives up altogether, watching the action from a safe distance. He is really frustrating, and I hope PV gives him a proper grilling regarding his defensive duties.
A welcome 3 points.

I trust therefore that they were "dealt with" in keeping with South London tradition.

Old bill got involved before any handbags.

Fairly certain the lot of them were coked out their minds!

I'm pretty sure he says 'it's not something bad but we need to wait for Monday to assess'

Ye that's what I heard. Hopefully not long.

Great 3pts and had to ride a bit of a storm in the second half. Hopefully a few more points in the next couple of games before the WC break. Fingers crossed we can stay in the top half as we might look a bit more attractive in the transfer window to find a partner for Doucouré in the centre.

3 points against a team as good as us.

Top half.

Some recovery after last week.

Hard to watch 2nd half but what do you honestly want or expect?

Some fans have seriously unrealistic expectations.

Decent first 45mins. Fortunate to hold onto the points on the second half performance. A better striker than Adams would have buried at least one of the opportunities.

Without Doucoure, our midfield is probably the weakest we’ve had since promotion. Schlupp is anonymous most of the time and Luka is embarrassingly bad. Can’t see how Jairo and Hughes could be worse.

Sorry i have to disagree with you there , Luka had a decent game today , he was prob the the best of the midfield today .

An overwhelming sense of relief at the end.
Talk about a Jekyl and Hyde performance.
Fortunately our defenders and keeper did their job and Southampton weren’t clinical.
When only one goal ahead we look nervous and hesitant and control and authority in our game tends to dissipate, almost inviting an equaliser.
We seem to lose our rhythm , whereas if we went two ahead we could really see Eze and Olise flourish in the likely spaces that would emerge as the opposition chase the game.
Perhaps I’m being greedy.
