Tucker Carlson on the Queen's death and legacy and that of the British empire. I agree with pretty much everything he says here. [Tweet Link]

I didn't want to get into political or ideological debates on the day that the Queen died.

I think it was George V that his doctor gave him a lethal dose of cocaine as they wanted his death to appear in the Times the following morning. Charming.

The notes of the Royal doctor do not say this. You simply want to put a spin on the death of a monarch because you hate monarchy. The announcement could have been made at any time regardless of the actual time of death. This happens everyday particularly with cancer patients with a modern painkiller. Stick to West Germany in the 2020's Edited by HKOwen (10 Sep 2022 6.41am)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

There is nothing sinister about the delay between death and announcement. The Royal family would have to make sure that family and friends are notified first, would you want to hear about your granny's death on the TV? Then there are matters of state. The government the opposition, allies, and embassies around the world would need to be notified for diplomatic reasons. All of this would take time. Edited by Badger11 (10 Sep 2022 7.31am)

Her late Maj' will live on,....for a bit. Stamps will change almost immediately, but coins and notes will be circulating for the next few years, at least. Same with passports. Post boxes. We have one with a Victoria crest on it still ! I can't see privatised Royal,....emphasis on ROYAL Mail changing all those cast iron post boxes for the sake of a crest. They'll do some kind of cheap-fix that's gonna pl55 everyone off. And we'll still have bigger objects, like the QE clock tower., formally St Stephens Tower which houses Big Ben. Then we have the Dartford Crossing with the QE bridge and an enormous aircraft carrier. Then she'll become a statistic, as one of the many elderly who will die this winter, due to the cost of living crisis, and yet also another fine excuse of another 'crisis' to excuse politicians incapable of Governing, Edited by Forest Hillbilly (10 Sep 2022 7.44am)
