The thing is if he goes to Chelsea, Spurs or Liverpool he has the immediate chance to play Champions League, i hope he stays, and 15m to any of them clubs is like 1m to us, if one of the 3 want to jump the queue, and we turn it down, i think we would have a very unhappy Wilf Are you aware of the Champions League registration rules?

No player is bigger than the club! We know that, so I hope Parish & Co demand a decision from Wilf. Stay or leave? If the latter, we need to be ready for a life without our talisman, no good waiting till the summer for an answer.

Wilf will wait it out and see what others offer. If no big club comes in this will be the only reason he re signs with Palace.

I am hoping and praying that Wilf stays with us as we really start to grow. under PV. He is such a big part of Palace and everything we stand for He has the type of body that should maintain his current extraordinary form for a good while yet.

I’m being optimistic here - Wilf’s body language, his passion today and his team talk before the game - they aren’t the mark of the Wilf who before previous windows was clearly keen on leaving - we will see

If he were to bang in something optimistic like 3 in 4 or something, he'd be right up the top of the league's standings (bar Haaland and Kane and those in the strosphere). So there'd be a player available for free who's one of the top scorers in the league. They're gold dust. Regardless of age, petulance etc, LOADS of clubs would be after him.

He'll have a choice. He's worth many millions, he could earn a few million more if he signs for another club or he could be (strongly) argued to be Palace's iconic player alongside the greats of yesteryear. Or he could journey off elsewhere and be one of the many. Watching his interview this morning on Sky Sports he is a genuine bloke with intelligence who could easily go on to do things in the game. He's clearly inspired by Viera. Good luck to him in that aim. Palace is a platform for him to do that, which he will not get elsewhere.

Might just be me? Firstly, just my opinion but I think he is quite possibly our greatest player of all time. Barring that he is certainly 'up there' already no matter what happens. He's home grown, has been with us from age (what is it, 7,8,9???) whatever and has been our poster boy throughout our longest prem stay... well not just poster boy arguably our best player. Anyone outside the club thinks of Palace these days they think of Wilf and vice versa. Your second para. seems a bit bizarre to me too. I don't think Wilf is blessed with a wealth of intelligence and in that I intend not to call him 'thick' but I think it's fair to say. If you mean 'football intelligence' again not proposing the opposite but I don't think he's shown anything that would have anyone consider him the 'next Guardiola'. Same thing with regards 'go on to do things'. He's probably only got a few years left in him as it is and that to me read as though you're talking about a 21 year old?? IMHO I think Wilf would like to play for a 'top club' before he retires and in doing so have a crack at some silverware. I think he'd quite happily spend the majority of time warming Chelsea, Arsenal or anybody else's bench for a season or two if it meant a trophy/medal or two at the end of it and a slightly more exciting read of his wikipedia page. If so I'd understand that and would not begrudge him it. I think he'll play it by ear, see what offers may/may not come, weigh up the likelihood of his 'dream' being fulfilled and failing that why would he sign anywhere else but once again with us? Whatever happens, Selhurst will always love him more than he will know and I certainly will whatever the outcome. Great win and things looking rosy. COYP
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I think we’re on the cusp of a special period under Vieira and Wilf is the player it’s built around. I can see us challenging for cups and qualifying for the lesser European comps - similar to what West Ham have done over the past two seasons. Whether that’s enough for Wilf, I don’t know. For what it’s worth, I don’t think the big clubs will pay him a larger salary than what we would offer, but I do think he’s good enough to start for the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham. Before the window opens, we have three very winnable games against Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth, and if we can pick up 7-9 points we’ll be in the top 6. If we show some ambition by making a couple of early strong signings in January (namely a CM) - could this influence him? I think it will come down to his love for Palace. He seems happy and he’s playing brilliantly and scoring goals. If the season continues to go well for Palace, there’s no point selling him for a small fee (we’d probably get around £8m max) in Jan. My gut feeling is that he’ll be Palace next season.
