In my teens it was That Was The Week That Was, The Likely Lads and Ready Steady Go
My grandmother was hooked on wrestling with Kent Walton, I think it was, doing the commentary

Callan. Edward Woodward played one of the first antiheroes. His grass was the foul smelling 'Lonely'.

As a kid Popeye was a favourite until it went PC with all the violence removed.
Space Patrol was a favourite puppet SF series I not heard mentioned here.
Nor the western puppet show- Four Feather Falls.

Ironic that Popeye was sanitised yet years on video games rolled in with a level of violence undreamed of earlier.

Off the top of my head:
The Army Game
Take Your Pick
and the appalling Black and White Minstrels. Hated not cos of racism - I was too young too understand that - I just loathed the music.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

My parents along with half the nation loved it for the songs. They didn't need the back faces .

I remember being very frightened by a series called 'Wicked Women', tales of bad girls in Victorian England. One was set in Brixton.

The Good Old Days. Not as awful but bad enough. As was Summertime Special and the rest of that "entertainment for all the family" crud that no one but the elderly watched (as there was a boring documentary on ITV or that rude Benny Hill)

I think what we call awful they called "Variety Light entertainment" it has mostly disappeared from our TV's. A typical show would be comedian who was also the presenter / singing / dancing / novelty act. This show was a throw back to the old musical halls and the audience participation during WW2 e.g. "let''s av a singalong".

Anyway we have nothing to brag about, how will future people look at Love Island and Big Brother....

Quite.

But I want our modern comedians to have the latter day version of Clodagh Rogers on their show and introduce her, out of character, but while wearing a dinner suit.

My grandparents used to love watching the wrestling on Saturday afternoons, this was followed by the classified results. Always waited with anticipation as no way of knowing how your team was getting on.
I remember Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy. William Tell another favourite
